Okay so here's my problem I'm having recently while playing BO. I have an average ping of 50-60 on Mweb 384 uncapped shaped. Now every time I play I get 400 ping for around two minutes and then it drops down to my normal ping level of 50-60's. It happens after every game. I have to spectate or camp for two minutes until I can start playing. I dont have the same problem while playing Crysis2 for example.

I've tried googling and checked some other forums but I couldnt find any cases similar to mine. I've re-installed my windows, resetted my router, switched off my anti-virus, re-installed steam, set my steam region to Cape Town(mweb), disabled the wireless setting on the router, changed my router's password, disabled "allow downloading" in Black Ops options menu. I've also downloaded a program called tcp viewer that checks which programs is using my internet connection and only see steam, my anti-virus(Avast) and windows sending/receiving packages.

So I have basically ran out of ideas and things to try.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanx.

I may be way off but I recall a similar issue when I played BO and logging out of the Steam friends list seemed to solve the problem. Not sure if you tried that yet?

Well after playing 4 hours after testing your solution it seemed to resolve the problem. I will will keep u posted if the lag issue comes back but otherwise I have to thank u for getting me back into my favorite game.

Thanks Friggs, I really appreciate it :)

Awesome dude, glad it has helped some. I was also playing it on a 384 line so know how frustrating it could be when you started lagging.

what do you mean logging out of the steam friends list ?

HTH ? i also suffer stupid ping on a 384 line and its unshaped.

please tell me !

its 128k upload making you suffer the pings as blackops uses live stats update or something, sometimes it will be fine, but if want issue gone its best to upgrade to a 1mb line

I have a 4mb line and I also get constant "Connection Interrupted" In the first few minutes of play.... I wonder if its the Steam cloud that is syncing ? But A point to note is that it does not always occur. Last few days it has been difficult to connect to Black Ops ... Sits at "Fetching Stats" for ages....

Draconia2, when you have Steam open click on the friends tab and set your status to offline. Unfortunately you will not be able to see any of your online friends and send/receive messages from them, but if it fixes your lag like it did mine then who needs friends anyway? lol

Hope that helps.

mine started the same way but i got 700-800ms ping; then after a few days it was random, now it is through out the whole game. mweb says im the only person who has this problem and that is why they cannot fix it.
i have done a clean installation of windows and steam, tried different isp accounts, and network cards. what gets me is it was fine before then it just came out of nowhere. i have tried all the tricks, even did wire shark test. i cannot afford a 1mb line its way to expensive, just for a game....besides 384 worked before.

I used to have the same problem with my 384Kbs line when I used to play Black Ops. Signing out of friends fixed it.

Kyubi - where have you been hiding bud? What do you do to keep yourself busy?

On the ping issue - I have heard more and more people on MWEB complain about latency issues... Weird, that!

Yip, a buddy of mine dropped his MWEB uncapped account and got a AFRIHOST 50GB Gold account for cheaper. :) He wasn't a heavy downloader, since MWEB started to throttle him when he reached 20GB.
