BlackBerry 10 progress in SA

Well, this puts a dent in the theory that they only do well because of BIS

Those are some big clients. Even FNB. Surprising, considering no BIS benefits so the companies must buy data for their staff.

For companies that want centralised control over their devices in the "field" it boils down to BlackBerry or Apple as with Android it is way too easy to break out of jail (and do your own thing). The IT geeks at these companies will use Android themselves but won't allow anyone else to ... I know :-) .

I'm guessing those big boys don't solely use BB as a mobile phone solution? iPhone + Android (hell maybe even Windoze) probably in use in the organisation.

Can be a mixture, but I know of many companies that have a one device/brand policy to make things easier to manage. The company then hands you a device instead of you getting an allowance (many prefer this as allowances are taxed).

BBRY really needs to get the software distribution channel right. A company can not run a successful smartphone when it's up to carriers to decide when they will release an OS upgrade. The latest BBOS 10.1 is case in point - only Vodacom (probably having the advantage of Vodafone when it comes to certification testing nowadays) was able to release the new upgrade. MTN/CellC and others have no clue. This is not just specific to South Africa and seems to occur across carriers even in the US and UK.

The desperate move of BBRY to load up their appstore with numbers and the lack of governance is now starting to bite back. Plenty of hacked apps and true garbage apps on the store already. It should have been not that difficult to copy a perfectly fine working app-ecosystem like iOS or Android.

I'm using the Q10. The UI is awesome. Speeds are great.
Only thing lacking is that limited apps in blackberry world 10.

@rpm : when can we expect the mybb app in blackberry 10

Well apps is what any smartphone is about... Ui, SW and HW can rock but no 3rd party apps or little 3rd party apps and the platform will die

Totally agree. If I could write code, I would be closing that gap right now.

Apps like Mybb is not the problem... Apps that the main target want (US) apps like netflix, kindle, google maps, youtube, instagram, FB , twitter, shazaam, spotify

These have to be there and have to be decent. Look at whatsapp... It took nearly a month after launch for bb to get it... Consumers dont want this.
