Blackberry 8520 Gmail

My mother has somehow "deactivated" her Gmail folder on her 8520. The folder exists, but mails cannot be accessed, viewed or edited. However, all of this can still be done through the messages folder! I am stumped - I have recreated the Gmail account and also resent all the mail service books. No luck

Any ideas?

Made me think - I deleted again, then did a complete battery pull, then restarted and recreated - voila, all back to normal! - tx for help
