BlackBerry BBX introduced at DevCon Americas 2011

Shame they didn't say more, or announce any new devices running it...

Seems like a step in the right direction OS wise ................. finally.
but will have to wait and see which century they will use it on there phones.

There are already talks that QNX is going the way of WebOS.
Too little too late imho.

RIM just seems to be about 6 to 12 months behind on everything.
They release their 1g+ cpu phones when the rest of the market already accepts dual core as the market standard.
They release their BBX and the rest of the market already accepts iOS and Android as the market standard.

“Specific details regarding BBX products and availability will be provided at a later date, so stay tuned for more information,” said RIM.

The only new news is the name "BBX" - the rest was already old news.

I won't be "staying tuned" hoping for RIM to re-announce old news.

Unfortunately, they need BBX now - not at some later date.

This is all hot air, until the products materialise.

Q1: When BBX will actually be available?
Q2: Which existing BlackBerry smartphones will run BBX?
Q3: If no existing devices will run BBX, what new BlackBerry devices are on the horizon that will support BBX?

As it stands they are falling further behind the likes of iOS 5 and Android 4 (ICS).

RIM should take their and do it right. The same ppl who are complaining that RIM is late and that this should be released soon, are the ppl who will be complaining if something half baked is released. I think this is the way to go, first focus on the platform, and then the hardware.
