Blackberry Bold 9000

I've had the leaked version running for a few days now. Was easy to install and works like a dream - no issues whatsoever. You are going to be very impressed...

I take that back. Had to downgrade due to a few bugs, but most importantly the "back" button on the SatNav not working :(

From initial impressions the BlackBerry 9000 seems to be a good option, I like the size and keyboard is so much better than the smaller 8520.

The only item of concern is the trackball.

Is the trackball an exagarated issue or a deal breaker?

What are current Bold 9000 users thoughts on this?

What are your likes, gripes?

Not sure yet whether it is wise to be an early adopter of the 9700, the Storm did not endear itself to new owners on launch.

Astound, I don't know much about the 8520, but I have a Bold 9000 and the trackball hasn't given
me any problems. The pad is quiet where the ball makes a sound when rolled. I have a car charger
so the battery life is not an issue for me. The 9700 is a bit smaller, but the 9700 has a
better resolution. It also has a better camera. If you go to Crackberry.com, they have a comparative video that I found quite
interesting. I think that the Bold 9000 is a great phone and I would certainly recommend it.
Hope this helps.

The 8520 trackpad makes a similar sound like the old dial type Safes, but you have to activate it, it is no on by default.

The Bold 9000 size/keyboard is the dealmaker for me right now, thanks for your recommendation :D

i love the bold keyboard, the trackball gets a little cranky sometimes but nothing serious.
Also, it's the creakiest phone ever made, makes wierd creaky noises when you type.

The sound comes from the back battery cover, which i had to pad with insulation tape to stop the creaking.

but other than that, excellent device.

Love my Bold - (used to be a Nokia boy) - once you get to know it you can customise anything from buttons to trackball sensitivity - though I need to get a new back skin as the plastic catch is a bit flimsy if you happen to drop it a few times

I have put my E90 away and I am very happy with my Blackberry bold.

No creaking on mine

Roller trackball = happiness at the moment....

Well worth getting

If you find the battery going flat check the following:

Hold down Alt and press the Escape key (on the right, next to the trackball).

There are 5 apps that you can't close. Home, BB Messenger, Browser, Phone, and Messages

I found that I had two games on pause ( Gives a dirty look at the Mrs ).
