Blackberry Bold 9700 or iPhone 4?

So I'm busy in the process of getting a new phone. My two options are to get the blackberry or iPhone. Now, the thing is, iv had and used the iPhone UI since 2007 ( had and iPhone 2g and 3G) I have to admit, it's a great device. But I just feel as if I'm getting bored with it. I mean, if I wait 2 months or so and get the iPhone 4, I'm ganna open the thing up, turn it on, look at it in awe for a few hours, lol but I basically could use the thing blind. But then again, i don't want to be to bold ( excuse the pun) and go for the blackberry and then be so disappointed. I have an iPad aswell, so I'm kinda thinking, ( iPad plus iPhone = overkill) I dunno, what do you guys think?
 
Take a look at HTC android phones like the desire. In terms of what you can do with them, they blow the iphone away. You can customize them like crazy. The iphone's interface outside of an app is basically just the app icons. Android has homescreens with widgets and the interface is beautiful and silky smooth. The new devices are all 1ghz so they're really fast.

I love how when you install an app it has the ability to affect context menus througout the OS. So for example if you long press on an image, or a link, or text or any sendable/manipulatable content, you are presented with options...like if you long press on an image, not only do you have the option to send it via email, bluetooth, post to facebook etc etc. but if you installed an app that gave you the ability to post to something new, like to a new social network, or maybe you install an app that lets you add silly clipart to pictures you take, then the option to open the image in that app gets added to your context menu, no matter where you are in the os. So you can be in any app on the phonw, and see the options to interact with other newly installed apps.

The live wallpapers are not just eyecandy. You get wallpapers that show realtime facebook updates from your friends, floating around the screen. Wallpapers that show a live stream of the "logcat" (a log of everything the operating system is doing in the background) It looks cool to see the java events scroll by as the phone registers your touch. The wallpapers can do things only limited by the devs imagination. They are capable of full 3d, like the awesome earth rotation wallpaper. You can even have wallpapers that are interactive games, or react to the accellerometer. The notification system on android is awesome too.. When I use an iphone, the inability to pull down the notification bar and see a list of all the current messages/updates/shortcuts makes the iphone feel like a lot less of a smartphone! Android will spoil you and you wont be able to turn back! Its also very well intergrated with google services, and if you can demo one, ask them to show you google sky map(a big crowd pleaser)

It's really maturing nicely and looks just as good as apples shiny toys. Theres a crazy uptake of android devices right now, the app market has doubled in size (70000) in the last few months. People are installing ubuntu on there Android phones! So dont forget to give one a go. You really should demo one first. Android is the Macgyver of smartphone OS's
 
If you want your phone to asisst with your work life then go BlackBerry.
 
I have a Blackberry and a iPhone. I don't want to be without either of them. The Blackberry fill the gaps the iPhone leaves and the iPhone fill the gaps the Blackberry leaves. I think it's a good combination. If I have to choose only one I'll go with the iPhone. No, the Blackberry. No, the iPhone. No, I don't know.
 
What the heck, just go out and get all 3, droid, apple & BB that will surely satisfy you dude.
 
If its for work - no brainer - go for Blackberry (have u considered the torch?). If its for personal use, honestly, owning a Galaxy and playing on the IPhone 4, I say no contest to the Galaxy (sorry - I know this wasn't an option)
 
Hi, I am in the same boat and can't decide between these 2 phones.

On the one hand I like the inclusive always online internet/email/IM and physical keypad on the 9700 but the iPhone is just so damn sexy.

What software do these phones use for GPS? My Nokia 5800 uses Garmin mobile and it is brilliant.
 
iPhone uses Google maps, but has a whole bunch of 3rd party navigation apps like garmap etc. Many new Android phones have Google Navigation which is cool, and 3rd party apps as well.

You are not being fair.

How can you possibly get a full Android experience with an Xperia X10 mini??? On your little toy, I would say you get a 20% Android experience max. So, because you have a warped sense of what Android OS really is, you classify it as a toy mobile OS.

Run Android 2.2 on one of the flagship Android phones (that even blows the iPhone 4 out of the water) & it is a totally different exeperience to what you experience on that small screen.

I'm sorry, but from now on your opinion will not be taken seriously.

I have both. For day to day communication - especially text - a BlackBerry is best. For lots of cool apps (ie fun) and use as a micro computer the iPhone is the obvious choice of the two. I cannot go anywhere without my BlackBerry (always with me). I can however survive without my iPhone for a day.

Be warned though: You'll quickly become bored with the BlackBerry as it not an fiddle-n-fun device that's got many "rooms to explore". You'll quickly figure it out and then it's just a very dependable communications device. The apps for BlackBerry is expensive and not as good in general as what is available for the iPhone ... so no messing around with apps to find something cool and clever.

If you're bored with iPhone - and you want to explore and have an interesting experience for longer - Android is the way to go.
 
I find BlackBerry to be very reliable rock-solid devices that can handle everyday corporate use better than anything I've used to date. I've done many BB OS upgrades for family and friends and it worked everytime without errors/complexity (and back-ups were restored perfectly). This emphasis on reliability is probably why it tends to become a boring device quickly (my experience). The BIS is an obvious winner (no data usage/cost surprises when the bill arrives).

The X10 is a bit controversal, cos a lot of users want Android OS 2.2 on their phones, but SE is very slow to comply....has taken SE a very long time just to update their customized interface to Android 2.1 .... so, if you want cutting edge, the X10 might leave you a bit frustrated. Also, the phone has 384MB RAM & I think the requirement for 2.2 is 512MB RAM, but I might be wrong.

However, my sister has one & she is extremely happy with it. I've played with it & really like it a lot, much snappier than my iPhone 3G. Would happily swop it for an iPhone 3G, just not mine. Want to keep mine for the memories.

I'll let you play with my Desire HD when I FINALLY get it, then you can give an informed opinion.
