You can contact Vodacom Business during business hours on 0821940(free call from any vodacom phone) or Visit a Vodashop and tell the sales person you want to deal with a person that deals with a business/corporate clients.
Go in with your Company letter head + ID requesting the upgrade. Please note this deal will take around 24hrs for it to approve but you will save yourself R1700.
Business clients always get a better deal than individuals BUT Vodacom business has to approve it.

You can get the Bold 9700 free on a Talk 500 and Talk1000 only if you are a business client.Your Vodacom account has to be in a BUSINESS NAME.

already did the upgrade over the phone, I did ask for better price and only had to pay in R1,154 (they gave me a discount and also waived the normal R150 fee) on the Talk 500 contract.

I got a sms this morning saying that the order had been invoiced and to expect delivery shortly, maybe I will get it tomorrow.

The first 9700 was dropped off by Ram Couriers this morning and the other one is expected tomorrow morning :)

Just got my 9700 at vodaworld JHB. They have stock. Wonderful fone.

Anyone used the Maps feature? How are Blackberry maps in South Africa compared to say, Nokia?

I have mine for a couple weeks now; It's great - but it doesnt add anything new to the smart phone world (When compared to the 9000); except for a smaller form factor, and x2 RAM, its pretty much the same (it has less Internal storage too) -especially if u are running version 5 BB OS.

Im happy with it, but would have liked some more revolutionary changes. IE BROWSER upgrade, althought i hear that maybe in Summer (US Summer), an upgrade in the Browser might occur.

I agree , I was also expecting something more revolutionary. I did a few speed /reaction tests against my BOLD 900 OS5 & just could'nt see any major difference. After using my BOLD 9000 I simply could not handle the small form factor. I think this phone would appeal to current 8900 owners who then upgrade to something more powerful/capable. So like my US colleagues who had Bold 9000's I sent the 9700 handset back & stuck to my Bold9000.

I got mine yesterday. Pretty cool.

Had to pay in R600 on the talk 240 business. As I understand it, the price they quote you for pay-in depends on your average spend.

MTN availability

anyone know when MTN will have availability? no-one at MTN, MTNSP, dealers or the service centre seem to have any idea apart from vague "maybe on tuesday" answers.

Also, if I get a 9700 as an MTN contract upgrade, is it relatively easy to use it on my current vodacom BES sim (I think changing the vendor theme is relatively easy, I'm just not sure if there are other gotcha's?)

It's not easy getting a new Blackberry, you have to call around (e-mail service centers, they can move stock around for you). Phones aren't locked, you can get them to release the PIN if you need to, so shouldn't be an issue using it on another network.

If you are on Vodacom just call 111 and do the upgrade over the phone, they courier the phone straight from the warehouse, normally you get the phone the next day.

You need to char to you IT department. Banks have security to worry about, so chances are they are running BES with special encryption. You would need voda/mtn to load BES onto your contract, then IT to set-up your phone. Contact your IT department.
