Hi Guys.

Do any of you know when the Bold 9700 will be released in SA?

I heard a while ago that it would be released, but im not sure of the exact dates.
Its already available in the USA and Canada.

One of my friends bought it in dubai. Probably a while till its available in SA
 
Argg thats a shame.

Looks like a really nice phone. And im due for an upgrade in 6 weeks
 
I heard it will be here in Feb / March. Not sure how much truth there is in that. As long as it's here before March when my upgrade is due!!
 
The Bold 9700 is already available thru MTN, I just got one a few days ago. They have them in stock.

MTN coverage is excellent. They have far wider EDGE coverage than Vodacom. And their 3G is quite good too (about same coverage as Vodacom). Are you sure you're looking at the right map, perhaps it's outdated?

when you look at the vodacom coverage map and compare it to the mtn coverage map (i really hope for MTN sake the map is outdated), mtn comes 2nd by a mile when one specifically look at 3G. The MTN EDGE network is by far better and wider than Vodacom.

the problem here is, the bold 9700 is one of the few rim devices sporting 3G at the moment.

looking at the MTN map, it seems like getting a curve 8520 on MTN might be a better (and cheaper) idea when taking the 3G coverage into account.

me, i think i'll wait for the 9700 on vodacom :)
 
It really comes down to where you live and work. Check the phones of friends to see which has 3G coverage. I've found them the same in the KZN south coast, Durban, and Randburg.

I have mine for a couple weeks now; It's great - but it doesnt add anything new to the smart phone world (When compared to the 9000); except for a smaller form factor, and x2 RAM, its pretty much the same (it has less Internal storage too) -especially if u are running version 5 BB OS.

Im happy with it, but would have liked some more revolutionary changes. IE BROWSER upgrade, althought i hear that maybe in Summer (US Summer), an upgrade in the Browser might occur.

Just called Vodacom Platinum desk, they do not have pricing yet and claim that they will only have it (pricing) on 7 February :(

If you are a Vodacom Business client you can get the Bberry 9700 free on a talk 500 and Talk1000
