Blackberry browser service book

Hi Guys,

Did a software update on my BB cos it was painfully slow. I only have two browser options now, hotspot browser and vodafone live! I need to get the internet/blackberry browser setting back. Any thoughts ? I can receive mail, and chat over bbm.

I tried registering via the host route table, but all i get is a message saying i am registered but no new service book. Any ideas ?

Also my 3G and GPRS are in capital letters.
 
Yea, i read about that being a problem, so i went with a 4.x.xxx version. Cant remember which one exactly but i was still on 2.something. Working much better. Tried a whole load of things, then tried gtalk, and the service book appeared on my phone. Don't think it was gtalk, more likely vodacom just too forever to push the data to my phone.
 
There is a work around to get it working but isnt for the faint at heart. Got mine to work by taking a friends servicebooks and just my email service books, combining it and resotred to the phone.

Been a week and all is still working 100%

That`s strange am on .238 and have the BB browser and have the option for vlive and BBB

Did you guys install over 230 or 216 ?

Until 5.0 software is available on the carrier side for BOTH the current ones in SA that offer Blackberry I don't think the current version of BIS 2.7 will support it unless you do service book hacking which is quite terse.

If you got a 8900 and you want to load the last version of OS on the ver 4.xx range then try and obtain 4.6.1.250 from the usual sources on the internet (excluding your carrier)

Alll that is needed is for vodacom to upgrade bis 2.7 to 2.8 and it will work, did a bit of research and that seems to be the problem with browser service books.
 
That would be according to other factors that determine when these sort of "enhancements" to the Blackberry offering is updated I would say.
