Blackberry - Can you use Skype?

I am really thinking of getting a Blackberry for my birthday. I have a Nokia Navigator now and it is a good phone, but I would like to join the Blackberry club :)

One of my questions is, can Blackberry take Skype? I mainly use the chat feature, does anyone with a Blackberry have Skype on their phone?

Also, what is the best Blackberry at the moment? And lastly what is your opinion on touch screen Blackberry phones?

Thank you for your reply, I have a Ipod touch 16Gig and its ok for music, but I can not really imagine me struggling with it as a phone.

With your input in mind what Blackberry would you recommend? Do you have a Blackberry?
 
I had a Blackberry Storm - it was the most useless phone I ever had. I was a BB fan before this and still have a Curve as a backup phone. BB insist that their "surepress" technology is great but in fact it's terrible.

I don't think the BB touch screens are as good as the iPhone's

However, the non-touch screen BB's are fantastic IMO. The Bold 9700 is the best to get at this stage.

The Nimbuzz app doesn't support Skype group chats though. At least on Symbian and Android, but I'm assuming the Blackberry version is the same. Fring (don't know if it's on Blackberry) has the same problem.
You end up getting chat windows for every person in the group as if they were talking straight to you.

Doesn't look like Blackberry has an official Skype app, which is a shame since it's the only way you would get group chat support.

i cant get Nimbuzz to assist with skype, so as far as i know NO way to get skype on a bb.

The bolds are excellent. I currently have the 9000 and love it. I have to clean the trackball every other day so I'm looking forward to replacing it one day with the newer trackpad model.
 
I must disagree with the posters on this thread. I have just got my Storm 2 and it is awesome. The touchscreen is kilometers better than the iphone's and I can type super fast! It is really nice big and clear too...

SUREPRESS!!!
 
My friend had one of the BB storm 2, i had a play with it, the touch screen is not very handy, it like a huge button~
that why i went for the Bold 9700. So think about it, if you like touch screens, storm 2 or qwerty, bold 9700~
Currently i think only Winmo and Iphone got skype program? not so sure, but definately not BB.
 
I have the Bold II 9700 and at the moment it is the best Blackberry available......If you can wait i would suggest getting the Blackberry Torch.....as it is the latest and it has both, Touchscreen and qwerty. It also runs Blackberry 6 which is the latest OS for Blackberry.

Any news on Skype??

I waited for my Torch and it was absolutely worth it! What a magic piece of equipment!
