Blackberry Curve 8520 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread

Okay guys. I'm lost! I've just been given a BlackBerry Curve 8520 (on MTN network) from my dad and it seems I can't surf the web! I keep getting "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again". I see the letters "edge" (small caps) at the top. What do I have to do to be able to surf the web? Any help would be much appreciated!

Ps: I do not have access to a wireless network, hence the need for browsing the web without it!

install opera mini, if you want to browse and don't have bis activated.

Hallo there,

maybe someone can help me, I installed a sms application on my blackberry and after not being satisfied with it, deleted it...but now whenever I receive a message that is more than 160 characters it gets divided into more text messages. I used to get one message (even if it was 5 messages long) now I get 5 separate messages. Please help to set this back to normal

Someone I know (no seriously :)) selected the "Do Not Show This Message Again" option when connected the phone to his PC. Now when he connects it the computer does not pick it up. How do you get unselect the option he chose?

Thank you, we tried going into the Memory settings and it says prompt for mass storage mode. I have compared his settings to mine and they are the same. Do you have any other suggestions?

Is Media Card, and Mass Memory Storage support On? Maybe you can try removing the memory card from the phone, and put it in your phone and see if it works? If not, then it could be the memory card that needs to be formatted.

@lord_spaceman, you'll need to change your APN settings on your phone. Go to Options > Advanced Options > TCP/IP and select APN Settings Enabled, then you'll need to type in the APN name for MTN (I'm not sure what it is, sorry, I'm VC.:) )

Hi

Im about to getting a new Blackberry 8520. Signing up tomorrow.

But i thought i would first check to see if anyone knows if they are going to be launching a new entry level blackberry?

Anyone?

There is the pearl 3G which includes a standard keypad not a full qwerty. It should have been released by now so probably the next month or two. Other than that nothing until the end of the year.

Go to setup (looks like a cog), select envelop icon (on mine its labelled default), log in to your service and then edit the email account settings.

Setup > default > Edit Email Account Settings
There are tabs that you can expand which will show the signature.

Ok, now i'm running out of ideas ..

Ever since the outage not able to send e-mails from BLackberry 8520 Curve running v5.0.0.592
E-Mail still not giving send option or auto-fills the e-mail address as one enters it.

Can Receive the mails and even see sent items which i send via the normal G Mail App.
Yet integrated e-mail client no sending feature.

Contacts, Calender sync works fine.

Have Removed/Added the Acc plenty already
Enhanced G Mail Plug-In Removed, now to get it back ... can't recall where i installed it from..

Any Help ? Suggestions ??
