BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.3?

The bully is picking on me again :p

And yes, I'm kinda upset the 8800 holster doesn't allow for my super duper, ultra slick speed draw, flip and unlock of my 7290. I am nerd, hear me snort !!!

I've got a qn . . . what's vodacom got against people using Opera on the blackberry apn?

Are you sure it's just the Blackberry APN?
Not sure it is just the blackberry apn (because I havent tried them all) but it definitely works with the internet apn.

Blackberry DT vs. Nokia PC Suite

Is it possible to use both Blackberry desktop as well as the Nokia PC Suite, or should I use one or the other?
I've just activated BB
Does either one have advantage(s) over the other?

If you are using a Nokia BlackBerry Connect device, then you should use the relevant desktop manager for a BES environment. In a BIS environment you just use the Nokia software alone.

The relevant software for Nokia is available at http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/blackberry_downloads.php

Be sure to pay attention to which version to use for which firmware on your device.

Never tried, but my best guess would be that the APN is configured for the BB browser and the BB Connect setups. I assume that the Opera browser is just behaving outside of what the APN expects to see.

OK, silly me! (You can tell I'm new to this) I'm using BB on a Nokia E90. Not sure what is meant by "BES/BIS environment"?
Tnx - ur help appreciated

Short answer...
BES: your company has their own BlackBerry server

If you have no idea about that, then you're likely on BIS :D

So what needs to be done to rectify the situation? Trying to surf some sites (including this one) isnt exactly a pleasure with the built in browser.

Well if I am right (and the fact that it works on the internet APN seems to suggest that), then it's a case of the data being presented and/or handled in 1 way by Opera and another way by the RIM systems.

Remember, in both BIS and BES there is work being done on the actual web page before being sent through to the handheld. I know Opera mini also goes via a server to do some re-rendering before being sent to the handheld. My guess is that this is the source of your issues.

What exactly is happening when you try use Opera?

It wont even install - seems to falter when it comes to accessing the internet.

BTW - Guys
Since i replaced my hard drive last week and did a full windows reinstall the 8310 is now working great as a tethered modem.
Also now running Desktop v4.3 and latest vodacom firmware on the phone, thanks kwmf ;-)
