I disagree - I think the majority of new users are late teens to early 20s wanting uncapped internet and messaging.

I will never by Sony Ericcsson again after they took forever to fix a phone we had.

Just a pity there is no such thing as a phone sized BB anymore.

You can call Vodacom or MTN direct and they can deliver it to you when they have stock (but bear in mind the 9700 is the same size as the 8520 and the Storm is much bigger).

The problem is that if you start using smaller screens, you have to compromise on other things - and on a smartphone, that becomes really problematic. RIM looks like they're standardising on two screen resolutions - 320x240 on the low end, and 480x360 on everything else. On the 9700, despite the relatively small screen, the high-res display makes for crystal clarity.
 
I miss the pearl. Nice form factor.
 
I think the phones are not available because they are sold out. I know that a lot of sales people would rather push another phone then loose a sale because of not having stock.

Its insane how many people I know are getting BB's at the moment. Its growing by the week ! 3 friends just got theirs, another 2 waiting for stock.... no wonder you cant get one.

Depending on your budget I would suggest the 8520 or the 9700.

For a flip phone that's not too bad. In the meantime I'm sure you could pick up a second hand 81XX somewhere on the cheap.

I'm feeling all nostalgic now, maybe its time to bring mine out of retirement. :D

a pity incredible had the bb8520 last month selling for R2000 on condition you traded in your old phone, i did that.:-. Just bought myself a cheap phone to the value of R135 and got myself R800 disconnect off original Price R2800..
