BlackBerry Priv

And I got one. On MTN.
Well done. I don't have the guts to port.

Can upgrade already but contract ends April. Will have to make hard choices if the prices haven't come down at VC.

Let us know what your experience is, please.

My Vodacom contract expires in about 5-6 weeks. So I went for the MTN R519 deal. They gave 30GB free data with it that is to be used in 30 days. I received 100GB instead after telling the consultant via SMS (as the shop do not answer the phone) their call centre explained that my SIM card were not RICA`d yet this is why my 30GB data were not active yet. About an hour later I received an SMS that my 100GB promo data is active.

I have been using Blackberry since it became available in South Africa. Previously 2-3 weeks ago I were still using my Z30 and sold it for R3250 as I were collecting money for my pay in at Vodacom when doing the upgrade. Big mistake. I were without a smart phone for about 2 weeks as they all advertised, but nobody had stock. Eventually I had a chat with MTN when they had stock. After this I had a chat with Vodacom who did not have stock yet, to confirm pay in amounts etc. My pay in were going to be R9399. My mind were made up right there and then.

I am satisfied with the device and do not miss anything such as Blackberry OS 10. I am familiar with Android so not really an issue. I am still using the Priv with its protective plastics as I am waiting for places to have stock of flip pouches and glass screen protectors.

Is it just me or did the lowest price Vodacom deals drop by R60 in a week? To R699? From R759 last week?

@FiestaST

What? Are you sneezing at the R200 worth of SD Card you get free?

With MTN you can buy you an SD Card every month with the difference!

Anyone have any feedback on battery life? I like the look of the phone, but the deals, if you can call them that, are all ridiculous.

I'm pretty happy with battery life. It's not as good as the Passport (is anything?), but it's not far off. I get a full day on it, and I'm a heavy user.

That's decent. I guess I can't justify R699/month for this when there are so many alternatives out there nowadays for much much less. Huawei, I'm looking at you...

And here I was thinking LG G4, coming from a G2
I just think it's too expensive for what you get. Used to be a big BB fan, back when they still made phones with unique features. Like BBM before android and whatsapp dominated the market.

Been seeing and expecting a lot from the priv but either I'll wait a few months or take something else. Vodacom pgrade been due two months and if it was the MTN deal I would have taken it. But that deal just ain't worth it.

Mine is arriving tomorrow. Anyone managed to secure a screen protector and back cover?
