Ok so I have added the R69 BIS bolt on and my data services have been activated, but how do I activate push email? I am using a hotmail account.
I forward numerous email addresses to a general gmail account I have. From there is it spam filtered and forwarded to my device's email address I set up when I set up the account (from the web site)Just a general error. Do you suggest I forward my mail to another blackberry created address? I will still receive the mail on my pc tho ?
Dump hotmail and get gmail?Unfortunately one can only forward hotmail emails to @live.com, @msn.com or @hotmail.com address's. What to do ??
1)You'll be fine and wont incur any extra bandwidth charges if you want to use your own imap.hi bwana, i'm looking to go the blackberry route this week, but i'm a bit confused on a couple of things, and you seem to know quiet a bit about them.
1. If want to connect to my own imap email account/s (not blackberry email), does this use extra "paid" bandwidth, or is any type of email considered part of the vodacom "unlimitted traffic" offer.
2. can the blackberry browser download files over http. and would this traffic be considered part of the vodacom "unlimitted offer". it would eb great to use the blackberry to d/l podcasts etc..
3. do blackberrys work ok with apple macs, or are they a bad combo!!
1)You'll be fine and wont incur any extra bandwidth charges if you want to use your own imap.
2) No - it's not going to work for that - though that might change to a degree when the new OS comes out.
3) It seems to sync fine for me. Integrates nicely with iCal, Address book and the likes. Cant say for sure if you're using Entourage as I dont.
Are you testing in an official capacity?2) I have tested the new OS 4.5. Looks like Vodacom is very stingy on what they allow through the BIS gateway.
Not allowed at the moment (but works when using the standard APN internet) :
FTP file download
Video Streaming / Youtube
Opera
All GPS software still works.
So that could be because it's not been rolled out yet officially? No in a unofficial capacity.
You can open Youtube and search for clips through browser but as soon as you want to stream it stops
so where can the average Joe download it from?Sorry guys, been away in CT since the 10th and just saw this now.
I'm actually grabbing 4.5 as I type this to you
As for the streaming, that remains to be seen as tho how it works out. The services that are allowed or not are generally a result of what the carrier decides they want from RIM.
If you remember when Google Talk was first released internationally we couldn't use it here initially because Voda had not asked for it to be "switched on" and therefore we didn't have the required service books.
30 odd minutes left on my download, wonder if I'll put it on my production BB...
