So I upgraded my account on Tuesday to the Blackberry curve 8520 special.

BIS activated and everything working fine. Now yesterday I started to check my account balance out of curiosity and see that my account is getting more without me using it.

Now this morning checked it again and over R5 in the last 8 hours without me making one phone call or sending messages.

I only use Internet browser, Facebook and set up my Hotmail with blackberry mail.

Changed my advanced settings to blackberry.net as well as suggested by this forum.

Logged a fault with vodacom and they say its impossible but will get back to me.

Is there anyway to check what is being used?

Thanks,

Either that or your browser on the handset is using the Vlive! APN instead of the Blackberry/Internet one. Normally where the charges come from, you can check and change it under your browser options to make sure. Browsing isn't free through anything other than the Blackberry/Internet Browser

Or Bolt, or Opera . . .

make sure your browser apn is set to blackberry.net

To do this go to:
Options
Advanced options
TCP/IP
Check the Enable Apn settings
Type in apn: blackberry.net
Save and exit

Is your gprs/edge all caps or lower case?

Caps: BIS is activated
Lower case: BIS is not yet activated

i only use Blackberry browser and have set my APN to blackberry.net. don't use any other 3rd party applications so have no idea what it can be.

if I use browser it always GPRS or EDGE, never lower case

I can IM and everything which means that BIS is active.

Are you on vodacom and using the 126 number to check the balance?

Yes, here's a tip, try the following on your BB:

Go into Options -> Status , and type the letters : buyr

You will see some new entries appear, including your Data Usage and Voice Usage ....see if this is changing according to your Vodacom usage, then you'll know.

Go to options, advanced options, host routing table. On each of the 4 items, press your menu (BB) button and 'register now'.
Wait about 2 minutes, switch off and take out battery, put back after few mins and try again.
