After all my recent hassles with Vodacom, you'd think I would have learnt NOT to use them :/

I have 3 contracts currently going and thought I'd sign a 4th contract to get a Blackberry Torch. I contemplated an MTN contract - but in the end settled for another Vodacom contract as I only want the handset and am pretty much tossing the SIM ...

I get the Torch and play with it throughout Saturday - but the optical pad starts giving issues Saturday night. I thought no worries - Vodacom said any issues within 7 days and I just return it. Come today I contact the store and am told :

Bring it through, goes to Blackberry to check, you may get a replacement in 48 hours.

So *just* signed and receive a R7,000.00+ defective phone from the box, and I need to be inconvenienced again :/ Bleh

EDIT : As I clicked send, the store phoned me back and informed me I would get my replacement today when I bring it in. I'll see how it all goes!

Many stores, including our own send the phone to Vodacare first to be inspected and rule out user damage. I learnt my lesson the hard way when I was still working in my first Vodashop. I took a clients motorola back and sent it in for a OBF claim. I issued a new phone right there and then. two days later Vodacare phones to say they are sending the phone back to me as the circuit board was damaged by water. I had to pay for it out of my own pocket.

It is unfortunately the case that there is many dishonest people out there that will take chances. That is why Vodacare has to declare that the phone does in fact qualify as a "Out of Box Failure" before we issue a replacement handset.

Ah - I suppose that makes sense ...

Was under the impression the first 7 days was a no questions asked :/

You had any Torches comes back at your store? I see I'm not the only one with a faulty trackpad ...

yup, i have a faulty trackpad as well...
it goes right and left, but up and down is stuffed..

I have heard of 2 other ppl with the same issue, however they got theirs at northgate (same as me) as well...possible dud batch?
