Johannesburg – EFF leader Julius Malema called on blacks to procreate.

Addressing the community of Meadowlands ahead of the EFF manifesto launch, Malema said blacks should ignore the excuse made by whites and government that black people abused the government's social grant system.

Blacks should instead go on to have many children, said Malema.

He said they should also stop using poverty as an excuse to do the wrong thing.

He told mothers and grandmothers to look after their children to secure their own futures. "Look after your children. They will take care of you. Stop using alcohol and drugs," he said.

Malema told attendees that he, just like them, once lived a life of poverty.

"We were like you with no food ‎to eat but we never turned to drugs," he said.

I am not sure about his reasoning here. How is having many children and increasing reliance on Social Grants contributing to the fight for economic freedom? Perhaps a visit to Middlesbrough or the sight of Bogan Aussies will enlighten him to the fact that reliance on Social Grants isn't benefiting anyone, not even whites in 1st World countries.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me....but I guess I'm not the target audience here.

The more poor uneducated has the happier he will be.
Screw the fact that they will battle to survive having kids they cant afford.

It's funny how the whole anti drugs and alcohol message is being ignored.

It is not going to be his kids or his problem. He is a politician - they only care to benefit and advance themselves, the whole lot of them.

I don't like the writing there...if a person says something and it's reported in a story, I prefer a direct quote verbatim. Now I'm left wondering if Julius said excuse (which is nonsensical - why would white people or government be making excuses in that context - complaints fits better) or the journalist chose that word.

The drugs and alcohol thing is a positive message - no issues there.

Great, more under-nourished, unwanted and jobless mouths to feed.
Just what this country needs.

in which language was Julius speaking when he made this statement? I suspect that something went amiss in the translation

I doubt that it is ignored. The fact the he is advising people to make live more difficult for themselves and government is problematic.

Statements like these need to serve as a reminder as to what the EFF stand for. Sure, they are now well-loved whilst they try to oust Zuma and that allowed detraction away from what they EFF fundamentally stand for. We need to seriously give thought about what they will want next after Zuma

I just realized I completely forgot part of that sentence, I was going to say "the more poor uneducated voters he has"
Its easy to control a poor, superstitious and uneducated person to keep them voting for you.

He's said this kid of thing before.. more babies for the revolution.

and I think what he is saying is you shouldn't do it for the social grant.

He says "what white people are saying about social grants" is that (some) white people say that black people have kids just to get the social grant money... he is basically saying that is rubbish.

Its madness. It makes no sense. Does he really not know this?

They can listen to him or live within their means. Its ultimately their choice. I can only give my sympathies if they let him talk a hole in their heads. Not my business. People should have as many kids as their brains tell them to - Not just their hearts.
