Discuss the rule here.

@ Killa - why is it illegal? :confused:
 
I can only see this being the best for football. In the UK it is the worst, where a team is filled with foreigners.

All the take overs from internatinal businessman. If they care so muc about football as they say they do, why didnt they try to build the football up in their own countries like Russia and America?
 
I agree with the rule too, but due to the European Labour Laws, it will be illegal to enforce. Something on 'free movement' of EU citizens within the EU.

There is another Foreign rule but can only be applied on players outside the EU. Then again they have the 75% work permit rule for them and that is specific to each country I think.
 
yup

im not sure if he will get this passed, fifa may have voted in favour but i dont think fifa can make it happen

im not sure the exact process to be honest or what law it is or who they have to go through to make this 6+5 rule

i just know its not going to easy to enforce this rule

FIFA has more power than the almost any governing body in the world. Take the UN for example, when FIFA speak the UN jumps.

If FIFA want to enforce this law, they will.

Yip. No matter how powerful FIFA is or isn't depending on what you believe, when the come up against the EU court and Constitution they will have a hard time contravening its laws..
 
Wasn't his idea overruled a short while ago? I remember reading it somewhere. He had egg all over his face. His reason for this is shocking though - basically saying that EPL clubs have been dominant in CL cos of this and that's why he wants to apply this rule. Guess what Schlep? Touch **** if you don't like EPL teams. Deal with it.

fifa cannot change a government rule

fifa is not bigger than the government of countries

You will be surprised how much power FIFA has. Maybe a new law regarding work permits of football players will be passed to aid Fifa in their quest.

The way i understand it. Fifa doesnt want to change laws, they are looking to have their ruling passed - how they go about doing that, i dont think it is far fetched.

anyways its only going to put in place in 2012/13 season

Ya, we will wait and see what comes of it. read an article few months back saying that all these new EPL owners are here cos they ''care'' about football so much.

If they ''cared'' about football they would start academies and build better clubs in their home countries.

Anyways, that was another discussion about clubs need to belong to people from the country.
 
What about other European teams? Is he going to implement a rule for them allowing only a certain number of foreigners as well? Smells of crackpot hypocrisy.
 
I for one am hoping that the 6+5rule gets past...at the moment Boro have the best accademy in the premiership so we smiling at the thought of it :)

That right! Emphasis will be on grooming local players. That way the national team will be so much stronger as well.
