Blatter 6+5 rule

What about other European teams? Is he going to implement a rule for them allowing only a certain number of foreigners as well? Smells of crackpot hypocrisy.

No doubt about that.

Still I believe implementing a different view of the rule could be sufficient. ie: force clubs to spend x amount on youth development.

This rule will not pass in Europe. The EU has already said its illegal. You are not allowed to discriminate based on nationality in europe.

Fifa can enforce it in the other federations but they can't in europe.

What is legal is the champions league home grown player requirement. From this season a club needs to have 4 players which came from their youth system and 4 other which came from a youth system from another club in the same country. These players need to have spend 3 years between the age of 15 and 21 in the youth system of the club. But they can be any nationality.

Well thats still ok. Will force clubs to groom young players. The ruch clubs will suffer then.

why would the rich clubs suffer?

man united and chelsea have ample england players

the bottom clubs will suffer the most because english players price will raise big time and the richer clubs will buy all the talented england players leaving the bottom feeders with the average joe's

weakening the lower teams ever more

if anything this will weakening the league not make it stronger

The richer bigger clubs will suffer because they are required to gorrom players from the academy to play in the first team.

In todays game, the bigger clubs are not focused on academies they are focused on buying the finished products.

No all that will happen is the big clubs will buy the players at a younger age. 18 as oppose to 24.:D

No, it shouldne be like that. The player would have to come thru the youth ranks. If that is the case where they can buy 18 year olds, then it really defeatds the purpose.

He spends 3 years between 15 and 21 he qualifies as a youth product. 18-21 is 3 years.

why could they not just spend 20m on up coming england stars from the smaller clubs?

i mean surely that makes sense?

rich clubs buy over priced england players, small clubs lose all decent england players

But where was he before those 3 years. Thats why its important to have the rule state you must sign for the club that trained you.

Now to stop smaller clubs losing out. The rule needs to be implemented.

If you think English players are over priced and over paid wait until this law comes into effect

It probably won't though

as fresh said on 5fm the other day.. blatter doesnt own football

also i dont think this would affect arsenal too badly anyway :) since it'll only be in place 2012/13, they've been quietly snapping up alot of english talent... luke freeman is 1 example and the youth team is +-70% english... might see some of them next season..hoping to see alot of mark randall and kieran gibbs..
