My internet access at work is blocked :-( however recently I've been able to access all websites including p2p, fb, gmail and other websites that are actually blocked for all staff with internet access.

The weird thing is I can only access the internet from one P.C, I don't have a roaming profile but even when someone (with a roaming profile) without internet access logs onto the same P.C they're immediately granted full unrestricted internet access.

How is it possible that Internet Access is Open on a P.C and it overrides individual profile internet access control?

I'm using Windows XP SP3 - let me know if you require more info.

its done on ip address most likely.
Does that machine have a static ip? IF yes, my money is on ip,
if no, then machine name would be the next bet

Tip...learn how to use ccProxy....

if I find somebody who uses ccProxy in order to give somebody else internet access, both users will get a written warning as it is against company policy... ;)

the bastard inside me will rm -rf * both lusers' home directories and zap all their emails  :D then blame it on a dodgy link they clicked on  :D

Thanks for the quick response guys, it appears there's a whole lot I need to learn about networking. Any books or sites you'd recommend?
