Hi guys. Does anyone know how I can configure Windows 7 to block ALL internet access (ie. Windows Media Player, Windows Updater, all other software etc) from gaining access to the internet unless grant whichever program the permission to do so? I want to do this in order to montor and be in control of my bandwidth usage and I essentially only want Firefox and Microsoft Outlook to have unmonitored internet access, but would prefer it if every other program that wants net access to first ask my permission instead of just going behind my back while I'm surfing the net. For the time being I don't have any particular internet security (I plan on buying BitDefender Total Security soon) so I want to know how to do this with Windows 7's default software suite. Thanks.

Sorry, my mistake, it seems the firewall only version doesn't run on Windows 7 but the internet security suite does. I'm downloading it now. Thanks.

well if u have AVG 2011 you can just tell it will allow you to block internet access to programs...

there was a small program that worked with windows7,giving you more control.I know this program is what you looking for...try google for sandisk u3 programs. If i remember correctly they had a portable version to.

Netlimiter does the job fine and it has a small memory footprint. I'd recommend it above going the firewall route. Use a firewall, but not to block your apps, since it can become tedious after a while.

^^ what he said...

...although if you go with the firewall option (I have to say it :) ) the Comodo Firewall does exactly what you want...
