Blood Pressure...

Heart rate differed substantially between the two readings. This can happen if you have Atrial Fibrillation and are not aware. It will then also have inaccurate BP readings.

Second one was a tachycardia episode. I have them every now and then where I’m just sitting working or something requiring minimal physical activity and my HR shoots up from the 70’s to 140+ for no apparent reason. No afib detected in hospital, but I unfortunately don’t have any further episodes when I’m there, so all ECGs are sinus rhythms.

Had another one this morning (last one was Monday) while sitting and working. Popped the bisoprolol the hospital gave me, went for a walk to get some fresh air, dunked my head in cold water and did other vagal exercises to try and force my HR down. Eventually went back to normal like 1.5hrs later. Apple Watch ECG showed a sinus rhythm, same as always. The beats are steady, just hard and almost double the normal rate. Decided not to ring the ambulance this time, though.

After Monday’s one they kept me overnight because my troponin was slightly raised, so my heart takes a beating whenever it happens, but sonor I had the next day showed my heart was fine. Just always tired as **** afterwards.

My daughter gets tachycardia episodes for no reason. I bought her a Kardia 6 lead ECG machine that she used to record her episodes.
It showed up as Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia as the P, R and T waves were all there in the appropriate places.
She is now on a Beta Blocker that sort of helps by keeping the episodes at a lower rate.

Funny thing is I was on bisoprolol for a few years and still had the odd episodes. Took me off it, though, because I had bradycardia episodes (HR would drop to 40 while I was driving - not fun!). HR used to hover around 60-70 otherwise. Off them and it sits between 75-85.

But popped one again on Friday morning when I had my most recent episode and it seemed to bring my HR down eventually. May discuss going back on them.

More A&E shenanigans last night. Palpitations, tachycardia and high BP (171/85). Did all checks as usual, and nothing came up, so was discharged. However, the doctor did mention that one of my thyroid markers were higher than usual. So may be on to something?

Random question, what does you iron levels look like?

Weird that you 2 mention thyroid and Iron, my BP has been quite high lately (already on Ramipril 5mg)

I am in the UK and they do blood tests when you go on medication that could affect the body, and the latest ones came back low Iron, high thyroid.
They decided to see what they are after the next set of tests (3 months)

My wife doesn't have high BP, in fact hers is lower naturally. However she does get random palpitations, and so far I figured out it happens when her iron drops, which is also on the lower than it should be side, but not so low that doctors worry about it. Need to find out about her thyroid

Don’t recall the numbers but never been flagged as too low.
Same, doctors never say wifes iron is low, but then we got to the gynecologist and she like, iron is too low and that's when I started linking symptoms ect. Maybe worth getting a second opinion from another professional.

Bit of a sensitive topic, but could low iron be due to blood loss every month? Not a problem I’d ever have, obviously, but possibly not all that uncommon for women come to think of it.

And yeah, I’ve kind of always just gone off the blood work reports where the “acceptable” range is, and just skipped over it because I was within the range. Just assumed that any professional would let me know if they saw something untoward.

That is absolutely a contributing factor.

That said, when she takes iron pills, she doesn't get palpitations. When she stops taking it, eventually it starts up again.

Wife doesnt take the iron pills as serious as I do my BP pills.

But every time it starts up, I just ask how long have you stopped the iron pills, and it's always the same answer, some x nr of weeks.

Hmm, may just look into that, thanks for mentioning it. I mean if you look at general blood tests there will always be an acceptable range, but I always thought it was a bit generic because one value could be great for someone, but just off for another, but because they’re both within the range no-one bothers investigating.

Like BP readings where in America “perfect” is 120/80, while in Europe it’s 130/90. So how would you make an American healthy? Tell him to move to Europe!

My wife's energy levels were low and she miscarried. Both gynaes she saw didn't pick up on her low iron levels.

The gp who sorted out my blood pressure medication, after my previous gp didnt do it properly, looked at her blood tests from the miscarriage and suggested iron levels were low.
The iron tablets completely changed her and she felt way way better.
However the iron tablets does constipated her if she uses it too often.

I heard about that side affect and some others, my wife say she doesn't have any, she just plain forget to take the medicine.

However I had a chat with the discovery wellness lady at virgin active and she did have side effects and hate the pills. She mentioned some other option she gets on prescription which is only needed once every 3onths I think? But I can't remember what it is.

Wow @Grant that is vrek high! My BP has also been a bit high of late, but could be due to arm band that is too small for me? I recently stumbled on an antioxident thats called CO-Q10. It supposedly is very good for lowering of BP. I am on my 3rd day of using it and will hopefully go to the GP on Saturday to hopefully get some accurate readings.
