When speaking of PC's you should try to use the term 'drive' and not 'player'. This causes confusion you know. The player is the complete package - optical drive and hardware to decode the signal and would
thus be a seperate device for a TV. :)

Hi Scotty777 those prices looks good! Thanks for the link. It's making me wanting one!

the thing that i have been thinkin is, when cd writes 1sy came out they were crazy expensive but now very cheap, how long until blu-ray players become cheap like dvd/cd writers???

Well the trend has already started with internal BluRay writers for PCs. Athe start of the year LG writers were in excess of R5000 and you can now get the LG Combo BluRay/HD DVD/DVD/CD drive for R3600.

It Might be cheaper to build a media pc with Blue-Ray drive and a graphics card that has Dvi output (to connect to HDTV via DVI to HDMI) than buy a dedicated blue-ray player for about R5000

And you can do other stuff with the PC to than just watch movies. :)

what spec would one need to run blu disk ie cpu, graphics card ect the minimum.

cpu-any thing, but i reckon a E2180
Gpu- an ati 3470 to 3850 (that ranges from R400 to around R1000)-the reason for this it that ati has better features then Nvidia, but if you want Nvidia then go for 9500gt
Blu-ray player- the link i gave up their ^^^(post 2) so around R1400
ram-ddr2 667(it's a lil cheaper, and you'll need just 1-2gig's)
HDD- just get a simple 250 gig for 600 or so rand,

thats a total of around R4000 give or take, but thats excluding the case, you could get a normal gaming case, or you could get a home threater case and thoughs prices start at R2000

however, I think it's a much wiser choice going for a media pc then a blu-ray player, as for say R6000 you can play music, watch HD video's, watch normal video's, surf the web, etc...
