Where can I still find brand new, never been used blu-ray players for under R2000? Mine stopped working so I need a new affordable one. Preferrably Sony, Samsung or LG. :)

The only ones I can find online are refurbished and I don't think I want something that's been tampered with. Thanks.

These seem to be becoming quite niche products, most people who use physical media these days are home theater enthusiasts who don't mind dropping some cash on a quality player or they already have a player if they have an Xbox. The market for cheap consumer bluray players has definitely dried up, at least in SA.

You may have to import one via Amazon or something probably if you want a new "cheapy" bluray player.

I have a massive movie collection i don't wanna get rid of so I just need something good that will last.

I see hifi corp has a R2000 Sony on their site that is currently sold out. Gonna try to get one of those.

Strange that I can still find dvd players everywhere but not bluray.

Otherwise do you guys think I can trust a refurbished player? Is shiptuonline a good site?

I have a massive dvd/bluray movie collection as well, looking to rip to HDD so that I can get rid of the physical discs.

Just need to get decent ripping software. Any suggestions?

I'm a collector, I like my discs :)

I remember when bluray players sold for like R700-900 or something :(

Buy an old PlayStation
yup
i paid R1200 3 years ago for my PS3 off a 14yr old kid on Gumtree
included 1 original controller and 4 games
he wanted more, i told him to **** off and take the cash
so he did

only when i got home i realised it was a PS3 i bought, i wanted a PS2 to play my old games, and no the PS3 doesnt play all the PS2 games :(

I didn't even think about getting a playstation instead. Gonna look into that. Can they play any movie from any region though? That's the biggest problem with discs. My broken player was region free.

Not on the gaming consoles no.

Well then I need a normal region free player. I have quite a lot of movies that are not region 2 or b
