So i have a PS3 and Sony S series LCD 40 inch.
All DVDs, divx and satellite TV display full on the screen.
But all my blue rays dont.
Is this normal. The TV is set at 16:9, i am guessing the output of the blue ray 16:9. So it should fill the screen.
I have checked every setting, hopefully, but cant get full screen unless i zoom (which crops).

Double check the settings on the TV. You may want to try auto. Also check PS3 settings. You must not forget that, not all movies / blu rays are filmed in "full screen". I am not 100% with the different aspects, but it's not totally limited to 16:9. there are various ratios in between.

Many movies are in 9:4, so they won't fill a 16:9 screen, you will have black bands on the bottom and top.

Dude, it depends on the aspect ratio of the movie. Many movies will still have black bars.

All my blue ray's are like this (black bands o top and bottom).
So the answer is quite obvious, pity, its a waste of screen size.
Thanks anyway.

If the Aspect Ratio is wider than 1.78:1, you'll get black strips top and bottom. It's normal... don't zoom.

The only blu-ray i ever saw that is full screen is Avatar, all the others have black bands top & bottom
