I like good sound and have a very good main system but I was looking for a pair of Bluetooth speakers for my covered entertainment area. I heard these amazing speakers at a local store and I was blown away with the sound quality it produces for its size. For the money they even sounded better than speakers costing twice the amount. I had not heard of this brand before and just wanted to ask if anyone has heard of Edifier and any opinions vs other brands. The model I listened to was the Edifier Lunar Eclipse e25 and the store told me that they have just been released worldwide.

I have a pair of ACT Link bluetooth speakers (about R 380,00), but these ones look stunning. The ones I have use a rechargeable battery and if you use them for moderate background music, they last a day. Range is about 10 metres, less if there is anything steel in the way

How much are these ones?

These are very different to the model you posted. The Edifier Lunar Eclipse is not a portable solution but rather a better Lifestyle type speaker system. I was quoted R2499 for the pair and I think I am going to buy them as the store did not have that many and I really want these for the holiday season. More info here http://www.edifier.co.za/e25%20-%20lunar%20eclipse.htm

Just make sure before you buy that the speakers don't introduce any delay in the audio output or you may have trouble with lip synchronisation issues when you play video files. I have a small Sony bluetooth portable speaker and it seems to introduce a small delay in the audio which is really irritating when watching online video.

Personally, for an outdoor entertainment area I'd just get a set of decent bookshelf speakers, and then connect them to a receiver with decent gauge cable. Get some banana plugs and its easy to set things up/take them in again. Of course this depends on your setup and whether you can run cable out windows or under the roof, etc...

There are also no professional reviews of these, but Amazon customer reviews say they are quite good for what they are, but one of them notes bass clipping at high levels, which will only be relevant depending on how loud you need them. Also, these have a fixed ~6ft cable between speakers, meaning that they have to be placed pretty close together.

It appears that they are distributed by Sanji who make the Mede8er line of media players so I would e-mail them directly to ask them about about any Bluetooth audio delays when streaming video files. The latest Mede8er has an option to set this independently to fix any lip synchronisation issues.

Brief report back - I purchased these speakers this morning and I have had a good few hours of play with different genres. Firstly the outer/inner packaging is one of the best I have seen and this just gives you a feeling of confidence when you unpack these beauties and with such incredible build quality too. I am more than impressed and they just seem to sound better and better the more I use them. Bass is real clean and punchy and the sound is crisp and open and completely non boxy. Family members could not believe the sound. Very happy with this purchase and will highly recommend these to anyone who wants real great sound at an affordable price.

note: also tested with my PC and some random movies and I could not hear any audio lag and lip sync was perfect.

They must have a very good bluetooth receiver, since the lip-synch lag is apparent on the cheap ones. You certainly get what you pay for

Which store did you purchase it from? I've been to Sanji in Woodmead, but they don't sell to the public. I've also been to Makro, Dionwired, IC in Woodmead but they don't have stock and never heard of it - one bright salesguy even told me they discontinued stocking them a year ago!

I also got the black pair and they look super. These speakers still amaze me and really enjoying them more and more. I heard a few stores have red in very limited quantities and white will arrive in Jan2014. Expect the colour is up to your personal taste but whats real important is the sound quality and these Edifiers certainly have that.

Hey Guys, I forgot to report back. I got my brother a red pair. When he opened them he was completely shocked at the look. He put them on and the family really enjoyed them, after a few beers they made xmas lunch a great party. All in all they really are great and my brother is loving them, he says they his favourite speakers and he has quiet an expensive Denon and Kef system in house. Think it’s time I spoilt myself and get a white pair. Anyone know who has white in stock ?? The guys in Clear Water mall don't have white.
