Bluetooth pics to Iphone

I'm bemused by the fact that people use Bluetooth to do anything.

There's a thing called the internet and cloud services...no Bluetooth required.
Bluetooth data transfer is free - using the internet (cloud et al) means I pay to send it up and the recipient pays to download it. Double-whammy

As for using not understanding why people use bluetooth for anything... I prefer to use it to tether. Lower power consumption and quicker to establish a connection. I suspect that there are also people using it for other purposes like hands-free kits.

Simply put - I cannot understand why it isnt enabled. Bluetooth Sharing is part of iOSs Privacy settings.

Honestly, I haven't used bluetooth since the late 90's/early 2000's. Don't even know if it is enabled on my phone

I haven't had any performance issues but if I have I could Apex launcher or Novalauncher or any of the other launchers out there without rooting the phone.

TouchWiz is far more than a launcher

Does that somehow justify Apple not enabling it? Bluetooth is already built into Apple's iphones and ipads - not being able to use it to it's full potential adds nothing to the user experience.

Why shouldn't Apple enable it?

LOL @ OP... "welcome to Apple, here is your box, we hold the key and we dont care"

At least the box looks good on the outside?

i knew apple products were locked down but did not think it was that bad.

I count myself lucky for choosing android over iphone

Can you back up your claim that TouchWiz causes performance issues?(on the S3?) I don't see it either.

TouchWiz is far more than a launcher

TouchWiz is mainly a launcher from what I have seen. I know that some Samsung apps requires its framework in order to run properly. For example: some custom ROMs like CM10 (no TouchWiz) doesn't run S-planner (Ask DJ...).

But other then that I don't see this "far more than a launcher" you are referring to, can you elaborate?

Well this is interesting. Apparently apple does see some value in Bluetooth file transfer... as long as it's between iOS devices running iPhoto.

So I guess Apple just doesnt want iPhone users to be able to share their pictures via bluetooth with anyone else. Gives a new meaning to the term, "Walled garden".

That would be true if they stopped you from emailing or transferring via any of the numerous other ways of sending files including the plethora of apps available.

Woah, hang on:
So you cannot send files from a non iDevice to a iDevice via Bluetooth, unless it is jailbroken with the applicable app?

No, I agree Apple should enable it.

Yeah visually TouchWiz is just another launcher e.g. screen transitions, water ripple unlock effect, but I think it also encompasses Samsung's custom app suite and other OS level enhancements.

For instance Messenger can pass SMS to/from Email to sync with Exchange servers & Gallery, Music Player, Video Player can push output to SmartTVs via DLNA subsystem. OS enhancements include the likes of SmartStay and Motion e.g. turn over phone to mute ringing.

So ya, TouchWiz is more like Samsung's modified version of Android.

TouchWiz is not just a launcher. The smallest part of what it does is being a launcher

I believe the primary reason is because there isn't a "File Manager" of sorts to do something with the files that are being sent to/from the device.

That doesn't stop Apps from using Bluetooth to do such transfer, of which I believe there are a few.

But like I said I've never had a need for this kind of thing so it's irrelevant to me.

You have a video on your phone? Odds are it's something I can find on Youtube later. If it's not and I absolutely must have it...you can also send it to me later. My need for instant gratification isn't so bad that I can't wait for a silly video.

That is a pretty good description. Their OS level modifications are pretty deep as well

So basically the term "Touchwiz" refers to more than one service that is made up of a Launcher + some apps/services + some tweaks to the OS.

In app manager I see a app called "TouchWiz home". To me this looks like the Launcher part of Touchwiz, would be interesting to see what happens if one freezes (via titanium with root) this app and how it would hamper the features you have mentioned above.

Fair enough. But please do tell why you need to get rid of it for the s3 to be "even remotely useable"?
