Hey guys,

I have a chance to get the above mentioned cab at around R100k. It has 95k km on the clock.

Need an idea of fuel consumption, as um.co.za has no details for that.
Thoughts, opinions?

Thanks.

neg for less. then buy a warranty with the difference. out of motorplan always scares me.

E90 is relatively problem free.

Be sure to get the service history from BMW, and check out any possible "comments" before purchase. You DONT want to buy a problematic car, and/or one that has been in accidents.

As far as economy goes. the 320i is quite heavy on petrol, you probably wont get anything less than 10l/100km. Also, avoid the auto as its lazy as hell.

Lastly, these after motorplan service plans can help should something break, but they aren't nearly as comprehensive as the real deal. It might help to pay for a certain amount of the item that breaks, but 99.9% of the time you will need to pay in an anoumt to cover the balance.

I have the 2010 model and the most I have gotten was 18.5km/l. Taken into account I was driving 80km with cruze control from Brackenfell to Summerset West. When I started to accend up the mountain it dropped to about 12.5km/l.

If you keep it out of sport drive its really economic, I hardly do and average about 11km/l on average sitting in traffic every morning and evening.

Driving in sport drive flat foot according to the computer its 49L / 100km

Far from lazy once you hit over to sport

I had one for about 6 months new then sold it (for a 7 series). I like big cars though, my current daily is a CLS350.

E90 320i wasn't my favourite BMW.
Plasticky interior, tons of annoyances - eg bing bing bing all the time if door is opened or seatbelts off etc etc.

Reasonably ok to run, but make sure that the A/C works fine, as mine had to be replaced (under warranty).
I'd suggest plug in a tester, and read out the errors via the OBDII port, as it will give you a decent history of issues.

BMW should be able to do that, or any semi decent garage.

I've read about maintenance costs on the BMW Fanatics forum, some guy spent around R40k maintenance in a few years! :wtf:
