My first major service was a little pricy as I had to replace the clutch kit but otherwise services have been relatively well priced for the service you get which was always my biggest worry. Also to mention the free back massages you get while waiting to receive your car are amazing and sure make me want to book my car in for the next service asap.
As for fuel efficiency it is very economical to drive and could be compared to most 1400/1600/1800cc modern engine fuel consumptions.
ToxicBunny is correct in saying the 316i is a little underpowered but I think thesedays we would rather try buy vehicles that are low maintenance and fuel efficient.
Bottom line, drive economically and you will save, pedal to the metal you will pay.
I have however managed to clock 208 km/h going down Kliprivier Road in the wee hours of the morning

Overall it's been a great value for money purchase.
Check the service history, anything under R28k should be a good buy on a '95 model. If service history is up-to-date and vehicle well looked after then look into it. The last thing you want to be left with is major repairs on a bmw as if the car is in a bad condition you will pay.
