BMW 320i

Yup...as I thought, we are now dealing with an arrogant p r i c k who thinks the world owes him everything.

What, may I be so humble to ask, makes you so special over every other consumer in the country?

45k is a brilliant discount FFS...or are we now actually getting to the point where you need to be given a status BMW to impress your friends? Time to join the ANC Youth league. Cheap BMW's come with the territory.

45K is a shocking discount.....

the way the 3 series is already overpriced.

In september while trying to get rid of stock - BMW dealers were offering R70k discount on a new 3 series.

now - when they have even less time to get rid of stock before the new shape comes out - they are offering less discount... SURE...

OK, then the BMW buyers have gone down even more in my estimation. If you are correct, and BMW are working on a crazy margin to start with, why buy the bloody car, unless it is simply to impress your mates?!

We had two BM's come in this week, first one was a 2009, and he was about to lose 180 k over what he paid, and the second one, with a 2010 323 apparently paid 380 and book is now 245.

Both were willing to take the knock to get into one of our cars...I wonder why?

so what you really are saying is... that the BMW's are simply overpriced new?

It would appear so. We work on an 8% margin and have to slip discounts into that, and most deals will come out fairly close to 1% in the end.

BMW appears to be selling their name, as the cars aren't worth a bloody thing on the second hand market. Amazing what lengths people will go to for a little bit of theoretical status

Need some information on E90
How does the discounts on brand new 3 series work?
Dealer is offering R45k discount, how can I get more?
Do I have to take on the road fees?

Does anyone know the diff between 320i start and 320i

I would rather look at a demo 320i with M-Sport Pack than a brand new BMW. To me, all these cars (A4, BMW, C-Class) look so much better in their sport-package versions.

stay away from the start - had the 320i exclusive for a while - great car and it retains value as well as it has all those extras.

It's no longer about status and exclusivity seeing that everyone has one.

Problem is, that it still has the "name" as THE car to own as a Yuppie, and image conscious buyers buy it for that alone.

One thing that stands out for me with BMW is that they seem to have created a Brand, developed a way of selling emotional attachment to their brand and come across as focused on customer 'retention'. I think people are generally emotional creatures else we would all be driving the cheapest, practical, feasible car.

Previously, Polo 2.0 (which wasn't the quickest, but at least it didn't cost R350k). Recently, A3 2.0T. What I drive is not a prerequisite to having an opinion.

My point is that the 320i in no way justifies its price tag. Cars costing less, or around the same, are not only quicker, but come with the same standard features as it does.

I know someone who works at BMW. He loves the cars, and the service they offer...but he also agrees that their cars are over priced.

If you have the money, why not. but then dont get the cheapest one, go for the flagship in the range.

Obviously the reason why our esteemed MP's all swan around in 750iL's! ;)

If only there was a car with a BMW chassis/road handling, an Audi's interior and a Mercedes class/workmanship.

Feedback,
The deal was finalised yesterday afternoon.
R47k discount on list (another dealership went to R50K discount)
R500 discount on on the road fees.
Prime -1% from bmw fin services - standard bank lost the deal.
So, in conclusion,
If, there is a "willing" seller, there will be a willing buyer

The sales lady was very good.

Edit : it was a 320i exclusive auto. Birthday gift from the wifey to herself.

Congratulations.

BMW drivers smile because they know almost everyone else is jealous of their ride. :p
