BMW E90 - 100k service cost

So the 330 needs to go for her 100k service (out of plan) - ballpark figure of what this should cost?
Nothing needs to be done apart from the servicing - would like an idea before making an appointment since I'm juggling a lot of other costs as well and need to time the spending on this.

I'd have thought the interval would be based on usage and calculated by the on board computer.

Your on-board computer should indicate what kind of service is due and the BMW dealer will give you a rough estimate over the phone.

Thanks, the OB computer is indicating service is due in 1000km, but thats all... Will phone BMW later today
 
Would be great if that onboard computer would also calculate the costs involved for the 100k km service...I skeem by 2020 we'll have our cars hooked up to a dealer cloud. Where you bought the car from...there its VIN will be stored in the cloud, data will be transfered about the car, the dealer will be updated on your service interval and what's needed and how much it will cost taking into consideration Exchange rates if neccesary and VAT rates at the time...also calculating stock availabilty of said parts etc...that's the future for you! Remote fixing of your car if the fault is electronic...ie. airbag failure or lambda failure etc...log into car's ECU and from the cloud run the program to fix the car anywhere in SA...

I'm telling you...cars will be like this in future...and looking ant BMW's focus on tech esp in the M5....this is the future!

I think the technology is at our doorstep. I know with BMW ConnectedDrive available in some countries overseas, you can have

- BMW can unlock/lock your car remotely, can set climate control ahead of time remotely, a voice connection is automatically established with the call centre and the closest rescue coordination centre when a collision happens.
- When necessary, your BMW communicates service-relevant data to your BMW Service Centre by making an Automatic BMW Teleservice Call.
- BMW vehicles are to communicate with one another using data collected by systems such as rain sensors, ABS and temperature gauges. These data can provide insights on current road or weather conditions, then be relayed to others.
- Routes and POI are downloaded remotely into your car.

Hopefully this technology will be available locally on many vehicles.
 
I like the little trick that BMW has where you drop your key onto a reader and it picks up your mileage from that. Not rocket science but quite cool nonetheless.

Yeah its cool! I discovered that every time you insert your key, the key gets charged, the car stores a lot of information including condition based service needs. With keyless system, soon as one touches the door handles, seats, mirrors, radio stations etc are readjusted.

I must say though because of software glitches, my previous BMW E90 constantly behaved like Windows Vista.

oh ok...is this where when you take your BMW for a service, they put the key into something that reads the data? DAMN!
 
they dont only store the mileage on there, service info and warning info generated is also stored on there but agreed ... waaaay kewl when they do it :}

I suspect it's a wireless transponder, as they don't have to plug it in, just place the key on the reader. As I said, it's a cool trick :)
