Was wondering, does anyone here have one, or know anyone who has.
Saw one today - looks delicious !

I have an elderly BMW Dakar that I use quite often to dash about or when I have to get somewhere in a hurry through traffic.
The Dakar has been a reliable beast even after being heavily abused by a friend for a few months when I lent it to him.
So I was thinking of perhaps (big perhaps) looking for a demo or low milage 2nd hand F800.

It is due to a Dakar 650 that I don’t touch bikes anymore.

I can’t help you though.

I was lucky enough to ride one for a bit about two weeks ago (dad was trading in his old 1200 for a new 1200 haha, and the dealer had lent him an 800 while they were transferring crash bars etc) and it is a seriously smooth motor for someone coming from a 650 (I have the "new" Dakar, the Sertao), or any single cylinder thumper. Really nice power delivery, felt a bit better into corners. Just lots of :D :D :D for the bit I rode it.

And, now would be the time to pickup a second hand F800GS, since the F800GSA was just launched locally. Maybe there will be some good deals floating around as people look to upgrade

Why? Just wondering.

Had an incident which I cannot remember quite well, last memory I can visualise is my head plowing into the ground, happened on a dirt road in Calvinia. My cousin who was behind me a couple meters said that I went down instantly with no real cause, he actually said, "Hoe donder JY dan vooroor!". Nothing too serious happened to me, but it gave me the shakes every time I’m on a bike, my ribs, back and right arm was sore about 2 months long, this on a previous back problem. At least it was not my bike.

Thread Bump ....

So I fell in love with the  2014 800GS Adventure .... I toiled around for weeks now uhming and ahhing on whether to get one or not. Today I decided... Hell yes, goto have me one! Must say though the Triumph Tiger 800XC came a close 2nd (that 3 cylinder engine has the most awesome growl), but the BMW just kept drawing me back.

I know of a 2011 F800GS for 65k... The adventure is iirc 20k more brand new, so it does seem expensive. I believe the normal F800GS retails for R110k
What kind of riding are you looking to do? You've actually got a lot of options in that price bracket

Pm me some more details on that 800 please

Bear in mind there are now reports starting to trickle in of reliability problems since BWM started manufacturing these in China.
