Hey gents, been looking at an M235i, anyone here own one and want to share their views of living with the car?

What are the must have options other than the sports transmission?

What are the alternatives, price/performance you guys would consider?

I got one last month as I'm really enjoying it coming from a bunch of GTI's in the past.
The drive and comfort is a lot better.

For me the M Performance kit and xenon/led is a must have as with out it the car looks like a normal 2 series.

My options when purchasing was a Golf 7R, audi S3 or the m235i and I have no regrets with my decision.

Post a pic of yours with the kit - would like to check it out.

Well, I would hope it would be, starting at R140k more than what the current GTI starts at.

Will this not rather compete with the RS3? Haven't seen anything about pricing ...

Na - the BMW M2 and RS3 compete with each other.

People do tend to think the m235i is massively more expensive than the Golf R and the S3, but that's not quite the case. When I got mine, comparing standard auto vs auto, the BMW was only 40k or so more expensive than the Golf R, and not much more than the S3. Also, the BMW had a 5 year maintenance plan standard whereas one had to buy a (3 years only?) plan at extra cost with the golf.

The last I saw in pricing the golf was R550k vs R580 list price if I remember correctly.

I test drove the same vehicles as the OP (also the Merc A45 AMG), and came to the same (and correct :) ) decision in going for the m235i....

I don't have an M235i but a 335i. I sometimes regret not getting the connected drive package but that's because I just like cool toys etc and I figured another 30k on top of that price was a bit over the top. I think a sound upgrade is a must. Performance exhaust also an awesome option. Xenons are like a given, should be included in the base price. Surely it comes standard with the sports transmission? I know the 335i had the electric memory seats, sports transmission and reverse camera as standard over the 328i.
