Midrand. BMW South Africa is pleased to announce the local introduction of the new BMW Performance Power Kit for the BMW 335i and 135i models. The Performance Power Kit comprises both engine components and software, designed to work seamlessly together, whilst enhancing the performance of the 135i and the 335i engines. The engine tuning parameters have been modified to enhance output, as well as additional radiator and air intakes, designed to deal with the extra heat generated.

The BMW Performance Power Kit package sees maximum power output on the standard multiple award-winning 3.0-litre Twin Turbo inline 6 cylinder motor increase from 225kW to 240kW, whilst torque goes up from 400Nm to 430Nm in manual models and 450Nm for models fitted with Steptronic transmission. There is also the BMW Performance Silencer System, responsible for a discreet, but perceptibly sporty touch - this without impairing the long-distance comfort of the vehicle. The dual tailpipes in chrome-plated high-quality steel provide visual reflection of the vehicle’s performance status. This anti-corrosive material is also highly durable.

Also available is a BMW Performance Aerodynamics Kit developed to enhance the precise handling of the BMW 335i and 135i models, whiles ensuring an appearance that is even more striking. The Aerodynamics Kit includes an impressive front apron and integrated kidney grille surround. High strength and low weight make carbon fibre the material of choice for the BMW Performance rear spoiler, diffuser and mirror caps. BMW Performance also introduces racing-grade components into the chassis of the new BMW 3 Series. Lowered suspension improves road-holding while racing styling is provided through BMW Performance yellow coil springs. BMW Performance light alloy rims complete the visual effect while further enhancing performance.

The key to producing a successful racing vehicle is combining outstanding performance with precise handling. To increase stopping power, the BMW Performance sports brake system includes larger ventilated brake discs and the six-cylinder fixed calliper brakes in the front axle are finished in BMW Performance yellow. Body stiffness can also be enhanced with a BMW Performance strut brace that can be installed in the engine compartment to limit torsional roll during high-performance manoeuvres.

Performance is directly related to how efficiently an engine burns fuel and air. With this in mind, BMW EfficientDynamics technologies are applied in BMW vehicles to boost performance while lowering fuel consumption and emissions. BMW Performance components further improve airflow in the in-line six-cylinder engines. When combined with the dual chrome tailpipes of the BMW Performance Silencer System, the result is reduced pressure loss during the engine cycle and a compelling engine note.

The sensation of driving a high-performance machine is as much about bucket seats and racing trim as it is about revs and kilowatts. For this reason, BMW Performance additions are also available for the interiors. Sculpted seats, racing-style LED displays and an ergonomically enhanced multifunction sports steering wheel are just some of the components that convey a true sense of speed and performance to BMW drivers. The LED display shows various items of technical information such as oil and water temperature, transverse and longitudinal acceleration, shift point and time, and information can be retrieved by using the multifunction switches on the steering wheel. In addition there are ergonomically designed gearshift and parking brake levers clad in Alcantara, as well aluminium pedals and foot rests. High-quality steel entry strips bearing illuminated yellow BMW Performance lettering complete the package.

Pricing for the BMW Performance Power Kit is R24 265 excluding labour. All other BMW Performance components are available individually or can be combined to form a harmoniously integrated overall package and unreservedly fulfil the outstanding standards of BMW in terms of quality and safety and therefore do not negatively impact BMW Warranty and Motorplan. Full pricing of all individual components is available through the BMW SA dealer network, which also carries out sales and installation.

R24 265 is actually not that bad for the performance increase when looking at how much other extras cost! I wonder how much labour is going to be though.
New toy for a certain BMW-fan MyBB member that has a nick starting with an A? ;)

Prolly cost around R100k extra for all the options though. Still, you'd have a damn pimp 135i/335i.

Well the car's hardly cheap to begin with, so adding another R100k onto the price-tag shouldn't be that big a deal for any prospective clients. The 335i really does it for me - would absolutely adore one. Of course, I'd like a M3 more, but still :p

You would have to be messugga to pay that much more for a BM Troubleyou :D

It's a LOT of perfmance and one of the best engines of our time (IMO) for a relatively small amount of cash. <3 the 135i and I'm not a BMW fan per se.

I also absolutely love the 335- and this one will be pretty mean with the additions (M3 territory). However I dont understand how they can offer a car with so much power and no LSD.

Anyway, this will be a monster off the line..........

Wow!!
Thats what separates BMW from VW!!
Not bad, even though you can get better figures with only R5000, atleast this offers better peace of mind.

LOL agreed with JK8...better figures with only a chip and exhaust is possible from Frieling or even RGM

R25k for 15kw? You need mental help if you think that is a good deal.

Besides, how much difference will 15kw make to an already fast car? Traffic is so bad, you'll never get to enjoy the upgrade.

That's the thing right there, peace of mind.

Yip
And I suspect this can also increase the resale value of the car, like the "Sportpack" does. Its BMW approved!
BTW 15kw is alot on these type of cars!

And let's not forget the extra 50Nm too.

if the 135i and 335i was not fast enough already ... now it begs the question why buy an M3 if all you after is the fastest thing around ... )

Quite true.

A friend and I were discussing that point.
Though M3 is dream territory for me - a 335i is really not that far off from the M3, for performance and speed!
Well, that far off, between the two - still in dream territory on the pricing side of things lol

Good point, also don't forget that SPEED means governed to 250kp/h:eek: And where you going to reach those speeds in SA is only on your way to the Kalahari on those long, endless straights...

I thought to myself, I've always wanted an E46 M3...but this is a decision that will be between 147/156 GTA both are 3.2 but M3 is inline and has about 60kw more!!!

What's the actual reason people buy that little 135i??? Is it to sit around a braai and have the biggest penis coz you drive the fastest car, or does it make up for lack in other departments? I drove my father in law's CLS 500, now there is a car, close to R800 000 when it came out and governed to 250kp/h, everything that car has the M3 and GTA has, like sat nav, leather, electric everything etc...and they all go to 250kp/h...so why do people buy these expensive cars?:D

I agree with you guys. I think that BMW kinda fscked up making the 335 as powerful as it is. That being said driving a twin-turbo Vs a NA V8 reving to 8400rpm is 2 very different driving experiences.

I think that the M3 would have been perfect with a little more torque at the low end.

On things GTA - that's likely the one Alfa that I dig.
Never really noticed the car until a few weeks ago in PE when one came storming past me! :D
The noise from that motor and exhaust was awesome.
I tried my best to keep up in my tractor just to hear more of it! :D

Though if I had the choice between the two you mention - E46 M3 :D
The design and styling of the M3 really does it for me :)
/dreams on for now

Could have been forced by Audi...

i had my 335i chipped for R5000.00 its now pushing 285kw with around 490nm i tell you it really scares me at time especially when the 2nd turbo kicks in and you hear the whistling lol.... so ja in my opinion that 24k to get 15kw is not rally worth it
