BMW - Randburg

Had a similar experience from BMW in Tygervalley where I walked around for a good twenty minutes and made eye contact with multiple sales people with nobody bothering to help me while chatting away on a Saturday morning when you expect them to make actual sales.

Walked out again and was actually reluctant to visit SMG Century City because of the earlier experience and it was a night and day difference and I ended up buying a car there instead...from a woman nogal.

Had an issue with the car a few weeks later and even that was a pleasure as they gave me a courtesy car and sorted it all out for me without a hassle.

Hi,

I'd just like to see if I am the only one with this type of experience from this dealership.

I went into BMW on Thursday last week to see what options were available to me with regards to trading in my car and what they had in stock as pre-owned.

I must say, that with all the car dealerships I have been to, and all the cars that I have bought, I have never gotten such poor service and left a dealership with such a bad taste.

The salesmen were reluctant to help me, I walked around for 20 minutes before anyone would even look in my direction. When I was finally helped I was taken outside to look at a vehicle where the salesman immediately lit a cigarette (I am a smoker so this doesn't bother me) but I then had smoke blown directly into my face?

Anyways, whilst looking over the car the salesman asked me to wait there for him, which I did, for 20 minutes until I got fed up and went looking, only to find him relaxing with a coffee in the office having a nice chat...

All I got there on was a bad attitude and not once was I even offered a test drive, and when asking for a quote, I got a piece of paper with some specs on it, with no prices.

Honestly, even if they had the car of my dreams, I still would have walked out and taken my business eleswhere, absolutely pathetic service for a dealership of that caliber.

I would have posted it on Facebook etc. and emailed it to the BMW head office!

No no no, you've got it all wrong. They weren't giving you bad service, they were going the extra mile to teach you how to behave like a BMW driver. Now that's great service. :D

it's pathetic how service can be so vastly different from dealer to dealer, surely they should all stick to some sort of guideline?

Yeah it is pretty crazy.

I have a similar thing but it's maybe just an over-reaction on my part.

I demo'd some bikes with BMW in Cape Town as well as Ducati. I then scored a spectacular deal on a virtually new bike for a LOT less money up in Limpopo and opted for that as it just made so much more sense.

I then emailed both the guys at Ducati and BMW to say sorry I won't be buying bikes from them. Ducati responded almost instantly to say congratulations on my new bike even though it's not a Ducati and that they hope I'll come try Ducati again in the the future.

BMW guy I never got any reply from. So either he missed my email and never saw it...or he ignored it which is just really sad as that doesn't inspire me at all with the bike I just purchased from their marque.

Fortunately I've heard many good things from the dealership in question otherwise, so it's potentially just a single entity or a complete non-event.
