Does anyone know what a BMW service consists of?
I took my second hand purchase to have the motorplan transfered to my name as I bought it privately. This requires a 20 point-check or something (R1000), apparently the mechanic "continued" from the check and conducted the regular service. He changed air filters, spark plugs and wipers aside from other "checks" that are listed on my invoice. If anyone has any info on whether this is accurate that'd be very useful.

NB The reason I'm asking is because my service dealer already tried to short-change me when he almost sent me off after telling me that there was nothing wrong with the "normal" engine sound I had queried (petrol sounding like a diesel engine at startup). After I asked him to check with the mechanic, he came back and said that they have to order a part that has worn out and so I was right and they'll get back to me after ordering.
Not so NB is that there was loose change that I had forgotten about in my tray and now that's all gone. My concern is the integrity of the service dealership rather than the missing coins.

Also interesting is that this article http://goo.gl/SYFH01 listing SA's top vehicle brands for customer service doesn't mention BMW at all

Other than that I'm happy with my Sportline :D

Go check out BmwFanatics.co.za. There's a thread there detailing the good and bad dealerships. Also, BMW Leo Haase in Hatfield is now affiliated to the forum and the dealer principal is quite passionate about the brand, he would be able to answer your questions.

Great, thanks. Will do.

I didn't have to pay anything to transfer the motorplan into my name. BMW Sandton.

This is the first I am hearing about paying for transfer of BMW motorplan. Bought my car September 2015 and the transfer was done by Auto Bavaria Midrand for free.

they build it into the purchase price when you buy from bmw.
If you buy from elsewhere, then you have to pay to transfer it. between 1-2k IIRC.
