BNETA on Home Assistant

The newer BNETA plugs allow for energy usage. I think it was only the first two I ever bought that did not have this. I know there are others, probably better but these work with HA via Tuya.

So My plug shows up as "Unsupported" where yours shows your device ID in the brackets... So do I just have to play spin the wheel with my take a lot order to see if I get the right one? :D

Unless someone knows a way to order them without hoping I get a later batch?

So I got "New" Tuya plugs, however they only seem to update the Power/Current/Voltage when I have the Tuya App open :/ any ideas?

I'm gonna try these, have esphome / tasmota pre installed on them

1. Are these CBI devices that have been modified for tasmota / esphome? Just asking for reliability/durability sake as I can't afford failing devices on these appliances.

2. Between tasmota and esphome versions, which would be a better option? Just for simple power monitoring on a 3pin plug into home assistant.
Would use the energy data to setup automatic email notifications.

Thank you

Hi,

1. No, these plugs are manufactured with an ESP-32 Chipset and flashed by the factory.

2. This is like asking if BMW or Mercedes is better :) It really depends on your preference, and where you are at in your "smart world". Tasmota will require MQTT configuration on Home Assistant, while ESPHome uses REST to communicate with Home Assistant.

Both Tasmota and ESPHome will work locally with no reliance on the internet. Some would say that Tasmota is easier to set up the units initially, however you will need to go through the process of setting up the MQTT broker. ESPHome is harder to set up the initial devices but connects really easily to home assistant.

We personally use both in our smart worlds and can't complain about either.

Hi @SmartPad, I see the ESPhome 3 pin plugs are out of stock. Any indication when they will be in stock again?
Hi @katastrofie,
We have an order on the way, it shipped short while ago, so we are hoping they will be in later this week, or very early next week.

We had hoped they would have arrived a week or two ago, but the Year end festive shipping rush has thrown a spanner in the works.

We will pop back here and post an update as soon as they arrive.
