Bob van Dijk resigns as Naspers and Prosus CEO

Finally! They should have gotten rid of him years ago. The only thing he did was expensive financial engineering that didn't work - he did nothing for the core business except distract from it and wasting money on schemes like the ridiculous cross-holding nonsense.

Now they should just hire a CEO whose pay is not based on KPIs dominated by Tencent performance.
 
Something huge must-have happened. But MC is probably one of the main reasons. It's a sinking ship. They have raped the SA public for decades. Now they are finally seeing the public fight back.

MC have been spun off a long time ago - anyway even if it were still part of the group it isnt big enough to move the needle compared to the nonsense Bob has been up to.

Reading Johan van Tonders response to that piece is really funny with the benefit of hindsight :) I presume even he did not realise what an idiot Bob is.

It is quite amazing - every time I see a South African company pretend that foreign is better you can be sure they will lose a ton of money. Whether it is Sasol, Old Mutual etc it always play out the same. We are not a country of dummies contrary to popular opinion.

Naspers has no missed a decade of opportunities. Let's hope the next CEO has his act together and the board caught a wake-up.

What happens if the cleaner resigns with immediate effect?

Referring to salary.

"You must give 2 months notice" sort of thing bugs me.

*Planning the same should I win the Lotto. :)

"resigning with immediate effect by mutual agreement" is code for "was fired". The "consultant" part is probably to let his options vest and prevent a lawsuit.

When a cleaner gets fired they also tend to leave with immediate effect sans golden parachute because they don't have leverage over the company like a CEO does.

Nope. The completely unbundled and retain no shares at all. Vivendi is the biggest owner (about 30%). Naspers walked away from Multichoice, just like they are not involved in MTN either.
