Boksburg man flips reverse gear with hijackers

I doubt very much his insurance will pay out for willful damage. It's a pity though. This oke deserves a medal or at least a bells.
Someone needs to get hold of him and start a crowdfund for a new car. I'd pay despite never having driven a new car in my life.

So he would rather spend money out of his own pocket fixing the vehicle and not let the thieves get it,than claim on insurance and get a new car? :wtf:

edit : Also, they had an unlicensed firmarm in their possession, things could have gone really badly for this cowboy if he couldn't pull away again from the damage he caused

The mind boggles

Someone has obviously not been in a real life crime adrenaline sort of situation...

firstly well done to the guy, did what anybody should do when your life is threatened,

secondly, the car, well there is a tape, surely they should take the footage into consideration,
I mean he didnt hit a lamppost, he decided to protect his own life and his property,

surely the insurance will take that into consideration? and pay him out in full?

Yes a Bakkie or truck to do it proper the next time.

If he believed his family was still in danger then I doubt they would prosecute him for coming back for seconds.

He deserves a brannas and coke

I think the problem he'll face is that they were leaving the scene, and especially that he turned around and came back for a second hit .. you know how insurance companies work... you have insurance until you need it

of course, and I sure they will refuse, but then the posts on FB.MYBB everywhere, the company will do the maths that refusing to pay him out
will cause more damage to their reputation, and any possible future customers might think twice about insuring with them.

I mean its all a numbers game now,

You are right.Guess I cant fault the guy for his reaction.
Glad this chap is okay after the ordeal

I've walked back to a mugging spot before, hoping to see the @$¥&. Only realised the foolishness of it all the following morning.

Why must other people pay for his foolish actions? It is South Africa we are talking about. Orcs everywhere. If you support "on the spot revenge", don't complain about high insurance premiums. Just a thought.

Like i said, the guy deserves a new car via crowdfund for his actions.

Funny that no one has mentioned Citizen’s Arrest yet, a citizen may arrest any body for a schedule 1 offense committed or attempted.
You may apprehend or stop some one from leaving a scene of a crime, the guy was well with in his rights to stop them from leaving.

He didn't have right to inflict injury or harm on others, that said you have the right to subdue a some one in an attempt to escape custody, I am not sure to what extend, obviously not beat the perp senseless or intentionally ram him with the car, that said I don't think the driver had the intention of deliberately wanting to kill some one, but rather stop them from escaping, the reversing didn't do enough damage and the safest method was to ram the car off the road in an effort to incapacitate the vehicle and occupants.

I'm sure that the highjacker's car is a stolen car.
Assuming that it is insured, will that insurance company claim from the hero if he has no insurance?
If he didn't parang into it, it might never have been found.

If it was for something like this I don't mind a few bucks extra to cover him. That same perpetrator might have gone on and done tried his crap again that same night. I think it fact this guy saved the insurance industry quite a few bucks with his action.

Yeah, if I head the means, I'd contribute as well.
