Bolt vs Uber — Pricing showdown

Uber vs Bolt — Cheapest ride-hailing service in South Africa

If I had to choose then Bolt BUT I would always check out cabbie's dash & see how many lights are lit up + how low is the gas (petrol) gauge.

#IfYouKnowYouKnow

Plus make some convo with the oke.

I'd rather walk than take a ride in the cess pits they call ubers these days

There are two more options if you live in Johannesburg.

Hailo
Secure Express
  • Both are locally run
  • The drivers are employed directly with the company (so they won't cancel your ride if its too short)
  • Hailo operate BMW X3s and targets the higher end of the market, so like Uber Black (but far better in all respects)
  • Secure Express operate Toyota Corollas
  • Both operate new and clean vehicles
I caught Secure Express last weekend and it was amazing. The driver said he even get's his medical expenses paid for by the company.

Once got an Uber driver to reveal he was in middle management at Old Mutual ... strange indeed.
I once saw on LinkedIn that someone I know is a senior VP of sales. He is a used car salesman at Ford.

Uber? Not again. I was just charged for a ride I didnt take. I ordered an UberXL and the car came. Wasnt an XL. Hell, that Datsun was barely a GO. Anyway, showed the driver the luggage and he said "Not gonna fit" and left. Then I get a charge for the trip to the airport... Took me 2 days to find a way to dispute the charge and eventually, after much back and forth, Uber tell me they will make sure Im not paired with that driver again. What about my money? So more back and forth and frustration... and then finally, a few minutes ago, I get a message saying "You will be refunded into the payment account". Ill wait and see.
That done, we are now looking at moving all our trips to Bolt. Cheaper, way more cars and they actually have a working support line.

Bolt is a disgrace.
