Anyone here got expected charges by Booking.com?
We went to Portugal in Early Oct and now Booking.com deducted R1800 from my credit card on the 25/11/2019.

And when I call them and send them emails, they just say they dont know and ask me to contact all the hotels that I have made bookings in the past?

Thing is on the Credit Card statement, it just stated that Booking.com

I am so lost, feels like a scam from Booking.com, R1800 from Europe...

Also - check under Bookings under your account - mine lists all the charges I was charged.

Generally booking.com (specifically), ie not hotels.com

Simply email your credit card details to the hotel who can then do with it as they wish. It's my biggest bug bear with them.

Aren't Booking.com simply the intermediary? So they facilitate the booking and payment but it's ultimately between you and the hotel? So you book and then pay the hotel directly using the booking.com platform, and that hotel now has your CC details.
IF that's the case then it would be on the hotel to explain, although yeah I might expect more help from Booking.com. Also any hotel that charges extra really be emailing them to you.

Generally, yes 100% true.

Expedia linked sites handle the payment for you - so what you see is what you pay and they give Their credit card details to the hotel.

That's the problem, they are not helping at all.
I think next time, I will just delete the card details on the website

Yeah sounds a bit dodgy, I checked a booking I made this year and the SMS says the name of the hotel, not booking.com.

That's the thing, when we made payments to Booking.com, it is always shown Booking.com on my credit card statements, so i dont know, maybe I should ask the bank to reverse it

It's unusual, most show hotel name. And I've literally seen the printed emails floating aimlessly on hotel checkin counters - including card #, expiry and cvv.

I guess its a good thing that when i signed into the App i never put in my CC details on my profile.

So this weekend with the Lodge that i made a booking with when i called them up to confirm my booking. I discovered that Booking.com has a fee.

The lodge said that i will pay R2100 through Booking.com and if i booked directly with thr Lodge i will pay R1720 which equates to a saving of R380.

Basically booking through a travel agent. Sometimes cheaper, sometimes more
