Booking with Turkish Airlines

I want to book flights from Cape Town to Turkey on Turkish Airlines website and I'm not getting the choice of ZAR as a currency. I'm in Indonesia just now and wonder if that is the reason, although there are a choice of about 20 different currencies so maybe not. I joined their miles program thinking that might make a difference, and although it recognises and keeps my address and language settings (eng-za) on my laptop and on my phone app, I'm still having to choose Euros or something. Funny thing is, when I log into the app, the opening page gives flight offers in ZAR.

So I'm wondering, has anyone booked with Turkish Airlines website or app recently from SA and how did it work with paying? Did it offer Rand pricing up front and through the flight comparisons etc, or was it perhaps choose Euros/other currency and then it was converted to Rand on the payment page?

I just don't fancy my chances of getting a good conversion rate if I'm paying in Euros from my SA bank account. It'll add quite a few bucks to the total I reckon.
 
silly question, what about hopping on a Easyjet or Ryanair to London and flying back that way?

or to one of the big european hubs like Frankfurt? or Addis in Africa.

or could be you can only see ZAR if your in SA, maybe try the DNSchanger apps or something like that.

I won't get better price or route than what Turkish are offering. It's direct flights to Istanbul from Cape Town and a connecting flight to Dalaman, Good connecting times too. Converting the Euro price it's R8,500 each which is pretty darn excellent I reckon. Just want to pay in Rands rather than Euros with the bank converting it.

I reckon I'll wait until this evening and get my wife to book from SA and see how it goes. I know from recent threads that a good few folk from MyBB have been to Turkey just thought I'd check here.
 
Booked through tripsta last year, paid in zar.

cool, just thought to suggest it,

one can also try google flight, see what it picks up,

but, yes its probably region locked, to only display ZAR in SA.

Mostly likely I guess. But I just thought it a bit weird it’s offering a lot of other currencies too.

But yeah, will see how it goes later.

You could also try do it through an agent. My company recently bought a few tickets for Turkish Airlines through Flight Center, and it worked out cheaper than going direct.

Well as suspected, no Rand option on Turkish Airlines, only dollars, pounds, euros etc and it added on a good R1000 out of my bank from the conversion rate shown in XE. Looking on the good side it’s about R300 each and we still came in at under R9k each.

Not bad at all, and accommodation is free at my brothers place in Turkey so cant complain too much :p
