Borat 2 (Amazon Prime Video)

Just watched it. Not as good as the first one... But Rudy may be in for a rough time...
 
Busy watching it. Smoke break.
I like it so far halfway through. Had me in stitches a few times.

I'm glad for Amazon Prime's Trial.
I'm essentially watching it for free if I cancel the sub.
 
Watched it now. Terrible terrible movie that tried, but failed spectacularly. Not even a single funny moment compared to the 1st Borat movie.
 
Too much of a good thing, flogging a dead horse.

Seems that even Borat fell for the trap.

Still he's one of a kind. Right there with the best of them!

I'm happy from smoking green.
Honestly I doubt I'd watch it sober.
It's not my typical movie choice, but I enjoy all Sacha's movies.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020) 7/10 to 7.5/10

Enjoyed it, thought it was pretty well done & stayed true to the character we know & love. Some really good continuity from the 1st film. The Daughter narrative didn't seem like an afterthought, she was pretty darn good as well. The "twist" at the very end sealed it for me. Good insight into Murica's social culture as well.

For me it had potential when it started. However, the more Borat and his daughter interact with each other, the less interesting it becomes. Both are actors and when they ignore the people around them and focus on the narrative between them, the film loses that quality that made the first film so good. It's like this movie he was trying to avoid lawsuits.

IMO the film also went downhill the moment he went into the church. That was so fake as there is zero chance a real holocaust survivor happens sits in a church when Borat enters and doesn't react when a camera crew is around them but ignores his absurd getup and speaks to him like that. From that moment it lost its realism. Borat's whole life is hating the Js. A simple conversation won't change that.

The scene with Rudy Juliani at the end is so creepy. A 76 year old man ask for a 15-year old woman's telephone no and address. What was he was about to do when Borat came in to stop it?

The film is very scripted at times. It seemed to me the NY Mayor was playing along.
I may be wrong. Just my observation. If he was really in that mood knowing there's cameras all around him, he would be a real douche.
 
Interesting how Amazon scooped a pretty big exclusive, Covid has pushed lots of releases to streaming premier's but Amazon is clearly a big player in the market now, taking on Netflix and all the other studios head on.

What other major exclusive movie releases have they had so far?

They've got a studio called Amazon Originals AFAIK.
So they've made a few ones.
I see 7500 on the Prime App that I didn't even know existed, but seems good enough to watch.

I like how you address a 15 year old girl as a woman. She was the oldest virgin in Kazakhstan though.
