Hi,

I need help. I work in an IT support firm.

Our computers need to be added to the domain as a security thing.

Now the problem is that my boss keeps "Hacking" my computer with the domain administrator details.

He then goes and adds users, disabels my local user, diabels themes, and stops my Firewall every now and then.

I need something to be able to block him when I need to, and monitor what he is doing.

He is creating folders in my mydocuments, and reading all my docs. According to the IT Policy he has all the rights to do so.

Please assist where you can, will try it alllllll.

Get some dirt on him and put it in your docs folder :D

Then when you walk past him wink at him! ;)

You stopping it means no job. You may need to visit www.jobmail.co.za soon

It's their hardware, their electricity, their network. Any files on your PC are business related and open to be viewed. Anything that does not fall under this category should not be on your work computer. Simple

I don't think the issue is them checking up on him, but the disruptive (and potentially dangerous) actions such as switching off his firewall and deleting his local user? I'd be slightly worried if my boss did that.

It's his boss' Prerogative until it actually disrupts his ability to complete his work function. Then it may be reportable

Why would your boss do stuff like delete your user or turn off your firewall?

is this the boss of the company? or the boss of the IT section?

either way he sounds like a bit of a d**s.

if it is the boss of the company I would inform your IT section head that his actions are creating security breaches.

LOL!! - :D

Hes likely reading your mail too...watch out how many non-work related things you send out to friends etc.

Strange that he would disable your local account tho, sounds like a time waster if you ask me.

Are you the only person who uses your pc? (That you know of lol) - Hes obviously logging in as admin so he can add users to your pc so they can also install/uninstall stuff too...

You could install Comodo firewall, its free & that would stop intrusions to a degree. Also turn off netbios...Close network shares too but it wont help much coz he knows the admin pword...

Why would your boss do stuff like delete your user or turn off your firewall?

Think he meant disable, not delete. No idea why, maybe its to stop both of them being on at the same time??

Hes disabling the firewall so he can get on remotely. He probably had to login to your machine at your desk to change it tho, if he couldnt get in from his desk I mean...

Do you guys use remote desktop, VNC etc?

Right click my computer, manage, shared folders, hide C$, and Admin.
If you cant, click session or open files to see what his doing...

Just add a password through your BIOS settings so that it requires the password to boot.

If he then asks you why you have passworded your machine, tell him "someone" is accessing your computer and creating security risks.

If he admits it is him, this gives you a window of opportunity to discuss your concerns diplomatically with him.

Also put all your personal stuff on a removable flash drive and get a gmail account for your personal e-mails.

Well if its in your contract that he is allowed to do this, then there is nothing you can do but leave. If its also states in your contract that you won't be doing anything but work during your working hours (i.e. accessing personal mail and what not) then this is grounds for termination. Go read your contract before you do/say anything. Also installing third party firewalls to prevent may also be breach of contract, speak to your IT guy!

Logic and commonsense win the day....:D
