Boss is hacking my computer

Add a shortcut on the Desktop. Give it the 'Folder' icon. Call it 'Porn'. Then let the shortcut link to 'SHUTDOWN -s -t 01'.

Just add a password through your BIOS settings so that it requires the password to boot.

If he then asks you why you have passworded your machine, tell him "someone" is accessing your computer and creating security risks.

If he admits it is him, this gives you a window of opportunity to discuss your concerns diplomatically with him.

Also put all your personal stuff on a removable flash drive and get a gmail account for your personal e-mails.

Well if its in your contract that he is allowed to do this, then there is nothing you can do but leave. If its also states in your contract that you won't be doing anything but work during your working hours (i.e. accessing personal mail and what not) then this is grounds for termination. Go read your contract before you do/say anything. Also installing third party firewalls to prevent may also be breach of contract, speak to your IT guy!

Of all the replies, these two makes more sense. IMHO if there's a policy against BIOS passwords, then that cannot be done.

Make sure of your contract first before doing anything.

hmm . . .

blah, just buy a laptop and connect to the network ONLY when you need to

Maybe chat with someone higher up who knows your IT policy well. He may be your boss, and it may be within his rights to access your computer, but unless he's the CEO or similar there will be rules and policies that apply to him as well. Most companies seem to be quite strict about security and if he does anything that is potentially dangerous he may be violating his contract.

Don't go screaming to all who will listen that he's an idiot, but you are surely allowed to discreetly inquire about the general procedures and rules in place. It's not guaranteed that you'll find something, but asking may be the easiest first step. You've surely already checked your contract, there may be some of those stipulations that are generally applied.

install Truecrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/) on your computer to hide any personal files. He'll never know it's there. it's an open source encryption tool that can encrypt parts of a your hdd into a personal space. Easy to use.

BIOS password + Firewall =:)
Bios passwords are not very hard to get rid of. (if you can open the case without being noticed) So that shouldn't stop him for too long.
Of course you'll know it's happened though as your password will be gone.

local security policy -> user rights assignment -> access this computer from the network -> remove all -> add only yourself and last remove all admin shares C$, admin$ ..etc done ... dont blame me if you get fired hehehe

Oh I didnt see the business was in PTA? Oh then thats easy, just moer your boss. :D

is it you computer or the companies computer ? If it aint yours, you're not supposed to expect any privacy on it anyway. Dot use it for personal stuff.

If hes actions is disrupting your work, send him an email stating this and cc your HR rep.
second time send the mail only to your HR rep. Its their job to keep your "complaints" on record. And then, learn to live with it. Until he makes such a huge bolsup that important data is lost you cant really do much. Its important that you then have the "HR" paper trail.

You could create a TrueCrypt volume and install a few Portable Apps for your personal stuff (Firefox browser, Thunderbird Email Client, etc). It is very unlikely that he would be able to get in to your encrypted volume.

You could also use VirtualBox and install your own operating system inside it. The domain security policies would not affect it. The virtual disk can be placed on a encrypted TrueCrypt volume.

It all depends on how much privacy you want.

suggestion

you can access networking on two pc your and your boss.and create new login for your pc and change all setting of your pc.

bios password = useless as well as firewall :D

bios password does not help when you are logged on

\\%pcname%\c$

Firewall can be controlled via group policy = exceptions or switching on/off

He is most probably viewing your email as well. There is not much you can do if he is your boss. If he is a manager, go over to your IT department and inform them.
