Hi all.

This is just a post to mainly being attention to, and give feedback on the relevant decoder.

I was at the Sanlam Centre, last week, I stopped via Cash Crusaders, as I always just see what's going.
Having searched to find a place selling DTT decoders last year, and found nothing, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a DTT decoder plugged in, and on display. The salesman there told me that there were only for R350 each. After a brief think, I bought it on the spot, and the best part no TV license required. it's nothing fancy, what I assume is just a rebranded Chinese import (Ultronic). Took it home, plugged it in. I stay in Mowbray, and analog reception in this part of Mowbray without a roof antenna is a mission, due to the positioning of transmitters, and different polarities.

I had pointed an old UHF antenna, at Tygerberg, and even with a roof Antenna, although clearish I get severe ghosting. (I assume the signal is bouncing off the mountain). although even with the antenna pointed towards Tygerberg, the VHF SABC channels (1+2) come in near crystal clear, and are more watchable than their UHF counterparts on the other transmitter.

With this decoder not only do I get crystal clear TV, for the SD channels (SABC, E.tv sister channels etc), the HD E.tv looks amazing.

I even get rock solid picture quality on all channels with the stock almost mini car aerial, no breaking up, or pixels in certain parts of the the roof, and I would not get any picture with an antenna that size, with analog let alone a picture as good as that.

I wonder when the SABC will plan on up-scaling their channels to HD, however even with SD it still looks better than what it was when I had only Analogue.

For those looking to experiment, I highly recommend this decoder.

Thanks
It also has PVR, when I can attach USB stick or external hard drive, and record and watch another channel, timeshift.

Is DTT now everywhere? I thought the launch just fizzled out and died

Must have been a drop shipment. I've called several Cash Crusaders stores and they've got no idea what I'm talking about.
