OK, so I was on this page on Pricecheck...

adoibescreenshot.254.jpg

And I bought what I thought was a one year Adobe Acrobat Standard DC package Online - having bought that here before.
What I didn't realise is that this is the Adobe Acrobat Standard Upgrade package.
And I can only upgrade from one of the following base product packages (Which I don't own)....
Acrobat Standard (Version X.x or XI.x)
Acrobat Pro (Version X.x or XI.x)
Acrobat Suite (Version X.x)

I contacted Customer Support, but they said that they can't accept it as a return because I already installed using the key
(even though the install failed because I don't have the base product installed)
They said that since the box has been opened and the key used, I can't return it.

They have since corrected the description on Pricecheck...
https://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers...adobe+dc+standard,fkey&ssp=1&sso=1&rc=rgroup2

So now I'm stuck with this upgrade product, for which I have no base product.
Does anyone have an old product that they would sell me so I can install this upgrade?

I see this item was listed by FirstShop. Did you buy it through the FirstShop website, or via PriceCheck? I didn't know you could purchase directly through PriceCheck, this must be something added fairly recently. Can you also confirm if both the FirstShop and PriceCheck websites didn't specify that this was an upgrade license?

If the description was wrong, then the fair thing is for them to refund you. You should be able to take it up with the NCC, but probably not worth the effort. Perhaps the threat of taking them to the NCC might be enough to change their minds though. Worth a try.

Edit: Just out of curiosity, why did you buy this in the first place? You can achieve almost everything you need to with a standard Office 2016 license. You can purchase a license from Carbonite or MyBB Classifieds (user - FlashGear) at very good prices compared to retail prices. You can open, edit, and save PDFs with Word 2016. Was there a very specific feature that you needed from Acrobat?

I bought it through the Pricecheck website and everything was handled from there including payment and shipping, I didn't have to go to the Firstshop website at all.
But when I did - I saw it was listed correctly on the Firstshop website.

This is the initial response I got from them...

It has been brought to my attention that due to a glitch in the system, the product was displaying incorrectly on our website at the time of the order being placed.

We receive all product information from our merchants in the form of a feed. Our system then works through all the information and creates a new listing for the product.
In this case, the system did not publish all the product information, and listed it with displaying that it's an upgrade.

This is a very rare occurrence.

Our content team have rectified the listing and it can be viewed here

I need Acrobat for the following reasons...
1) Optimise PDF file sizes
2) Strip out pages from PDF's
3) Create Forms and save PDF's with forms.
4) Insert PDF password security.

Etc.

This is very simple: their product feed had a glitch which they admit, which resulted in you not receiving the thing you purchased. It's that simple. Ask for a refund. They need to write it off their end.

OK, but my question is.... if the installation key now appears in my Adobe profile - how can I get it removed from there - and it says it was registered yesterday.

That's not your problem LazyLion. You just need a refund. Chances are you'll end up scoring a free key to something you don't actually need, because the supplier will just write off the cost on their end and never notify Adobe to cancel that key.

OK, so just as a follow up to this incident - Pricecheck came back to me and offered to fully refund me and take the product back.

Kudos to them! Will definitely be a returning customer.
