CAPE TOWN – A Palestinian solidarity group last week started a social media campaign calling for consumers to boycott Woolworths and other retailers which import products from Israel.

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) last week sent out its call in a newsletter and on Twitter, using the hashtag #BoycottWoolworths.

Since then, the group of South African consumers taking part has grown.

So it is has been exposed that a zionist organisation Bnei Akiva was handing out free produce in Woolworths. It further goes on to say that they were harassing and using racial slurs towards Muslim, or brown skinned people. This sort of behaviour in South Africa is despicable. These people need to be reported for human rights abuses.

I don't get it...
I saw the whole list of products people are saying not to purchase...
Things like Mc D's??? Seriously...? My Mc D's are made in SA not Israel...!

I think that the best way to give them importance and keep them doing it is actually to enhance their visibility. With no media impact, they will get tired quickly.

Unfortunately stupid people will remain stupid even though they are condemned in court, and then they will be considered as "martyrs" by their followers...

sending racist and derogatory remarks to them as they walked past or stood nearby,

Sending? What? In envelopes or SMS or e-mail? Just curious lol ;)

Think I'll go to Sandton City and get my free stuff, don't care where its from.

But wait, isn't the Woolworths closed? Did it move somewhere else then?

Nope Woolies is where its always been

Lol, but its ok when the Pro Palestine movement does the opposite?

I support Woolies standing up to the racist BDS

Personal preferences aside, I think the problem here would be the profiling not the anti boycott (not sure if thats the correct word)

From the looks of it assuming just because you brown your muslim or that just cause you that color you are a fan of terrorist.

Not sure how we would even prove this one. At the moment it is all just hearsay.
I suppose if a news source were able to interview several witnesses who heard the profiling we might have a news worthy article, but for now it just remains hearsay.

We should just ban all imports from Israel, then our malls will free from those annoying people trying to peddle skincare products in our malls

Proof of the profiling though?

Currently its just a facebook page which doesn't really prove anything.
