Someone at BP or someone BP has hired has been doing some shocking photoshop jobs for them and whats worse is that they probably know these images have been manipulated but they released them anyway...!!!

Someone should start a collection to buy billions and billions of butt plugs and have BP offices all over the world flooded with boxes and boxes of them. Also the private residences of all the big wigs.

Or maybe just have a huge one made and present it to the CEO or whatever. (Inform him that once he's finished with it he can use it to plug up the leak, or the crap spewing mouths of his contemporaries.)

Photoshopped BP Helicopter Photo Becomes Internet Meme
http://www.petapixel.com/2010/07/23/photoshopped-bp-helicopter-photo-becomes-internet-meme/

This past week, BP has received a lot of attention for its release of “official” images that later turned out to be very poorly photoshopped. So far, three badly altered photos have been called out. Aside from the inevitable backlash and disappointment from the public, the photo has taken on a life of its own as an internet meme. People have been adapting their own versions of the helicopter scene, replete with geek jokes and bizarre photoshopping. Here’s one amusing example:

Actually looks more realistic than the BP one :D:D:D:D

I'm sort of confused as to what is supposed to be shocking about these images. So they put some pictures on black screens. Whoopie. As one of the comments on one of the websites pointed out: show me a big company website that doesn't use photoshopped pictures. The stuff that was added / removed really had no impact on anything.

They are trying to make it look like they are doing something but half their screens have no feed...
The helicopter was obviously on the ship and not flying around as they'd like you to think...

Possible reasons?? ^^^

Who cares? How is this shocking? So they put two images on the screens that were ALREADY IN THE PHOTO TO BEGIN WITH. They probably just thought it would look nicer on the website than having 2 of the many screens show nothing. It has absolutely 0 shock factor. As for the helicopter, again, who cares?! I have no idea why people find this so fascinating. Show me a corporate website that contains unedited photo's.

You know what would have been shocking? If they had painted over entire oil spills to make it look like it was cleaner than it really is. That would have been shocking. This is just some graphic designer editing photo's for a website. Big freaking deal.

I'm in agreement with TMoose. The photoshop work itself is shocking but I am failing to see the "cons" part of it.

Of course you would fail to see the problem, given you're such a fan of lies and propaganda (as we've seen with your rabid 'truth be damned' pro-SA stance). As for anyone else who *really* can't see the problem with "news" simply being made up fiction, well, I guess someone has to fall into the lower quartile of the IQ bell curve, sad as it is.
